    For today's final adventure for Season One, we travel to the Continent of Europe and then to the Continent of North America to meet an "extraordinary person," fellow prostate cancer patient and now survivor Alex Lamb.

    Alex Lamb's Adventure

    After the death of his wife, Alex Lamb chose to leave the United Kingdom and emigrate to the United States to live with one of his sons. As per protocol, a series of tests were ordered by his doctor to comply with the rules of emigrating to his new country. In 2018, his PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) scores spiked from 2.5 up to 9.5. His Urologist confirmed his cancer diagnosis in May of 2018 at the age of 79 years old. After thirty-six straight weekdays of treatments, Alex credits his survival to the luck of emigrating to the USA, his Urologist, and to Boston Scientific for developing the SpaceOAR Hydrogel procedure.

Morton, JR, MD, the Chief Medical Officer of the Urology and Pelvic Health division of Boston Scientific.     Ronald A. Morton, JR, MD, FACS, is the Chief Medical Officer of the Urology and Pelvic Health division of Boston Scientific. Before joining Boston Scientific via acquisition, Morton worked for Endo International plc as a chief surgical officer at American Medical Systems. Previously, he worked as a chief medical officer for GTx, a biotech company in Memphis, TN. Before joining GTx, Morton was chief of urology at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and director of urologic oncology for the Cancer Institute of New Jersey. He also held an endowed chair position as director of the General Clinical Research Center. Morton holds a BA in natural sciences from The Johns Hopkins University and received his medical doctorate from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He has board certification as a diplomat, American Board of Urology.

    For today’s adventure, we travel back to the Continent of Oceania and to Australia to meet the “amazing” Melissa Hadley Barrett. Why is she amazing, you may be asking? Her dual qualification as a Sexologist and Nurse Practitioner enables her to diagnose and treat physical issues and assist with the complex psychological aspect of these conditions. There are few in the world with this skill set.

    Melissa, the founder of RSHC, is a Nurse Practitioner/Sexologist with extensive experience in primary care. Melissa was one of the longest-practicing Nurse Practitioners in Australia, having qualified 20 years ago. She has postgraduate qualifications in Sexology, Diabetes, Midwifery, and wound care. She is passionate about assisting people with sexual function and intimate relationships.

    Melissa is also a sought-after speaker and educator for health professionals and community members to increase knowledge and education around sexual health. In 2021 she was invited to be a reviewer of the “TrueNTH International Guidelines for Sexual Health Care in Prostate Cancer Survivorship” (University of Michigan). In her previous work life, she was a remote area nurse and an academic and has published in international peer-reviewed journals on wound care and palliative care. In 2020 Melissa and Jo Milios (physiotherapist) co-founded The Penis Project Podcast, which shares real-life stories/lived experiences with men and their loved ones.

    Dr. Jo Milios is a clinical researcher and men's health physiotherapist with a particular interest in prostate cancer rehabilitation and has recently completed Ph.D. studies at the University of Western Australia. In her thesis, "Therapeutic Interventions for Patients With Prostate Cancer: A Focus on Urinary Incontinence, Erectile Dysfunction, and Peyronie's Disease," quality-of-life impacts were investigated. Two randomized controlled trials were conducted aimed at reducing the impact of urinary incontinence (UI) and erectile dysfunction (ED).
