Suddenly, they find themselves in Promontory, Utah, on May 10, 1869, just in time to witness the historic Golden Spike celebration—the moment the transcontinental railroad is finally completed.

Old Mrs. Moody even becomes part of the story when she volunteers to send a Morse code message over the telegraph, announcing to the entire country that the final rail has been laid.

At the count of three, they close their eyes and jump—and in the blink of an eye, they are at the North Pole.

When Old Mrs. Moody accidentally starts a snowball fight with the elves, they don't mind at all. Instead, they invite their new friends inside the workshop to warm up.

Inside, the elves hurry about making toys, and in the kitchen, Santa and Mrs. Claus make candy while singing "Jingle Bells."

But when they pass the lobster and crab tanks in the fish department, Mable spots something incredible—a tiny mermaid swimming among the crabs!

Knowing she doesn't belong there, Old Mrs. Moody and Catbaloo work together to rescue the baby mermaid and return her safely to the sea.

The story ends quietly, with a gentle mermaid lullaby sung by Old Mrs. Moody as baby Mable drifts off to sleep.

Catbaloo shares a story from Old Mrs. Moody's life before they became neighbors.

When walnut season arrives and ten tall trees begin dropping their nuts, Old Mrs. Moody calls her chickens to gather them. The hens are delighted and immediately begin imagining all the walnut treats they might make.

But the walnuts are needed elsewhere, too. The squirrels who live nearby are busy gathering food for the winter, and before long, a noisy and comical battle over the walnuts begins.

With Old Mrs. Moody stepping in, the chaos settles, and there turn out to be walnuts enough for everyone.

Old Mrs. Moody has a terrible cold, and while she waits to see the doctor, Catbaloo tells her the story of a little girl and her goat cart.

Anderson Kate lives high on a mountaintop. One day, she and her mother bake a chocolate cake for Grandmother's birthday. Anderson places the cake in her cart and sets off down the mountain to her grandmother's house in the valley below.

Along the way, Anderson stops to listen to her neighbors' troubles and offers them a piece of the chocolate cake. By the time she reaches her grandmother's house, the cake is gone.

But wonderful things happen on her walk back up the mountain. At each stop, Anderson discovers that one neighbor has exactly what another neighbor needs.

Something is amiss at Uncle Henry's farm. The chickens have stopped laying eggs, the cows aren't giving milk, and none of the animals will eat their dinner. Even worse, they're all in foul moods.

When Uncle Henry calls Catbaloo for help, she picks up Old Mrs. Moody and the two set off to investigate. But their trip is delayed when the car won't start, sending them on a short detour to Haney's Service Station.

As they look for answers—on the farm and under the hood—they begin to see that animals, cars, and people all need the right kind of fuel to keep going.
