It's official! 🚸 Old Mrs. Moody is a certified school crossing guard—and she takes her new job very seriously! Her uniform is splendid: a neon-yellow safety vest, a shiny badge, and a whistle!

Catbaloo is there to watch her friend on her very first day, pulling Little Wilbur the kitten in a wagon. Even goldfish Annette is plopped into a glass jar of water so she can come along and watch, too!

She's the very best crossing guard ever! She keeps the kiddos safe and sends them off with her own special kind of encouragement:

"Kiddos, listen to your teachers! You know what listening is all about—use your ears more than your mouth!"

Then it's back home to put her feet up and rest so she'll be ready to do it all again tomorrow!

It's The Summertime Safety Show—a special two-part episode with Old Mrs. Moody and Catbaloo! They're talking about rules that can help keep you safe on your bike and at the swimming pool.

Oh dear! Old Mrs. Moody gets into trouble with the lifeguard for running on the pool deck, and to make matters worse, Thelma is right there and sees the whole thing. But soon, it's Thelma who's in trouble with the lifeguard when she dives into shallow water!

Then, when Old Mrs. Moody and Catbaloo encounter a group of kids riding their bikes on the sidewalk, they discover that the kids are on their way to a Bicycle Rodeo to learn all about bicycle safety.

It sounds like so much fun that Old Mrs. Moody hurries home to get her old bike so she can ride in the rodeo with them!

Old Mrs. Moody holds her breath as the prize wheel spins at the Adopt-a-Pet booth. Who will win, and what will the GRAND PRIZE be?

"And the winner is… Misssssusss Moooooody!"

She wins! And the grand prize is a fishbowl and a beautiful little goldfish!

Thrilled with her new pet, Mrs. Moody hurries home to set up the fishbowl and settle her little fishy into its new home. All is going well until she tries to feed it and accidentally dumps the whole box of fish food into the water. And now the water is cloudy and dirty! Oh no! Her poor little fish! Old Mrs. Moody isn't sure what to do.

Just then, Catbaloo knocks on the door and comes to the rescue. She's had a goldfish before and knows just what to do to fix the dirty water problem.

Once the water is clean again, Catbaloo even shows Old Mrs. Moody that goldfish can learn to do tricks, and before long, her little goldfish is quite the performer!

Throughout the story, listeners will learn a little about caring for a goldfish and be reminded that sometimes help is already on the way, even if you can't see it yet.

On a visit to her sister Pearl's hobby farm, Old Mrs. Moody teaches Catbaloo how to gather eggs from the chicken coop. With their baskets full, they find a shady spot beneath a tree and sit down to examine the eggs.

When Old Mrs. Moody points out a beautiful speckled egg, Catbaloo is reminded of the story of Pipi, a little mouse who discovers a spectacular egg hidden in a clump of tall grass in the churchyard. Certain he hears something inside, Pipi rolls the egg home and keeps it warm while he waits for it to hatch.

As Catbaloo tells the story, Festus, a darling miniature donkey, climbs into Old Mrs. Moody's lap to listen. Perhaps you'd like to climb up next to Festus and hear the story, too.

There's much to learn from Pipi's Spectacular Egg: a little about chickens and eggs, and a lot about believing in things you cannot yet see.

When Harry is in a very bad mood, his mother says, "Go outside and play, Harry. Being outdoors will make your heart feel happy!"
