  • Walnut Hullabaloo - a story for kids about learning to share
    2025/07/29

Catbaloo tells a charming backstory tale of Old Mrs. Moody

—from a time before they became neighborhood friends.

When the walnuts began to fall from ten tall trees in Old Mrs. Moody's yard, she announced to the chickens: "It's time to pick the walnuts!"

Her chickens twirled with excitement. They loved walnut season—the things they would make with the nuts—was the reason. They’d make walnut pot pie, walnut fricassee soup, and walnut chip ice cream with walnutty goop!

But the squirrels living nearby needed the walnuts too! If they didn't gather and store them, they'd have nothing to eat in the cold days of winter.

And that is how a wild and hilarious battle for walnuts began.

But Old Mrs. Moody stepped in to stop it. She helped them all discover something wonderful:

If they could learn to share, there would be walnuts aplenty for everyone—with plenty of walnuts to spare!

Come listen, laugh, and be happy as Old Mrs. Moody plays a lively tune on her fiddle to celebrate the newfound friendship between the chickens and squirrels.

She makes them a most spectacular feast of walnutty treats. And it's dinner and dancing ... on the table!

Incredible things can happen when you make the needs of others as important as you make your own.

  • The Goody Goat Cart - a story for kids about the joy found in giving
    2025/06/30

Old Mrs. Moody has a terrible cold, and while she waits to see the doctor, Catbaloo tells her the story of Anderson Kate and the Goody Goat Cart—a beautiful story of giving.

Anderson Kate is a little girl who lives on the mountaintop. One day, she and her mother bake a chocolate cake for Grandmother’s birthday. They place the cake in a little cart, pulled by two darling goats, and Anderson takes it down the mountain to the village in the valley where her grandmother lives. On her way, she hears the troubles of her neighbors and gives them each a piece of the chocolate cake. By the time she reaches her grandmother’s house, not even one piece left.

But wonderful things begin to happen on her way back up the mountain. At each stop, she discovers that one neighbor has exactly what another neighbor needs. By the time she arrives back home, everyone’s needs have been met.

Anderson Kate carried love, hope, and happiness all the way down—and all the way back up—the mountainside.

I hope this story fills your heart with the very same.

  • The Baaa Moooo - kiddos learn that a body needs good food
    2025/06/01

There is something strange going on at Uncle Henry’s farm. The chickens have stopped laying eggs, the cows aren’t giving any milk and none of the animals will eat their dinner. Even worse—they’re all in a terribly bad mood.

When Uncle Henry calls Catbaloo for help, she picks up Old Mrs. Moody along the way, and the two of them set off on a road trip to solve the farmyard mystery.

But when their car won’t start, they have to push it down the street to Haney’s Service Station. Maybe Mr. Haney can help! Is it a loose fan belt? Trouble under the hood? Or do they just need some good gas in the tank?

Your kiddos will discover that just like cars need fuel, animals—and people—need the right kind of food to stay healthy, happy, and strong!

Kiddos can join Old Mrs. Moody and Catbaloo in a lively song all about eating well:

If you fill up on cookies, you’re going to feel grumpy, it’s good food for your body you need”

  • Pipi Pumpkinseed - a story for kids about a mouse who feeds a village with only one seed
    2025/05/01

Old Mrs. Moody and Catbaloo are raking and digging and hoeing—getting the ground ready to plant a community pumpkin patch.

As they begin to plant the pumpkin seeds, Catbaloo is reminded of her favorite story about seeds. It’s the story of Pipi Pumpkinseed—a wise big brother mouse. With no food at home to feed his nine baby brothers and sisters, Pipi must venture out into the world to find them something to eat.

When he returns with ten pumpkin seeds, he gives them sage advice: They can eat their seeds, and have full tummies for one night, or they can plant their seeds and have full tummies every night—forever. But they were too hungry to care about planting, or the future, and they each decided to eat their seeds at once. But Pipi didn’t. Pipi planted his seed. Soon his one little pumpkin seed grew enough food to feed every mouse in every house in the county!

This story is a story about the incredible miracle of seedtime and harvest. There is a lot to be learned from Pipi and his little pumpkin seed.

Come listen in and learn a little bit about gardening and a lot about hope, faith, and love.

It was pure joy to produce this episode for you and your little loves to listen to together.

  • Showtime Toady - a story for kids about using our talents
    2025/02/27

There is a toad singing showtunes in the creek outside Old Mrs. Moody's bedroom - and it's midnight! Such a ruckus! Poor Old Mrs. Moody can’t get to sleep and has to call Catbaloo for help.

When Catbaloo arrives, together they decide that it's not the toad’s singing that they mind, it's the TIME he is singing that's the problem. So, they come up with a plan: they will build Mr. Toad a stage and will help him put on a show every afternoon. Hopefully, Toady will be so worn out from his daily matinees that he’ll go to bed early and sleep all night.

Old Mrs. Moody bakes cookies, prints flyers and invites the whole neighborhood to come to the show. Uncle Henry, Lizbeth, and even Thelma, and her darling little grandson, William, come to the singing extravaganza.

Listeners are encouraged to think about the importance of using their talents so that they don't go to waste.

"What good are your talents if you never try to use them?” - Catbaloo

“Why, they’d be no good at all––they would be wasted. And that would be tragic!" - Old Mrs. Moody

This is a wonderfully meaningful and funny episode, highlighted with a special guest star performance by a very full-throated toad.

Hope you enjoy the show and will listen over and over and over. Feel free to sing along in your best toady voice!
