Older adults are disproportionately affected by humanitarian crises, but remain overlooked in preparedness, response, and recovery efforts. Javier Manrique, Vânia de la Fuente-Núñez, Elburg van Boetzelaer, and Favila Escobio discuss their three-part Series on older adults in humanitarian settings, which explores the needs of older adults in health-care planning, preparedness, and response efforts in humanitarian crises, barriers to their inclusion, and the importance of person-centred and inclusive approaches. They also discuss their rights-based framework (PARTICIPATE) for age-inclusive humanitarian public health approaches.
