    The matriarch is emotionally mature.

    Not emotionally perfect.

    Not emotionally flat.

    Not emotionally unbothered.

    Emotionally mature.

    And that's very different.

The matriarch is not the woman who feels less. She is the woman who has learned how to feel.

The matriarch understands that one of the greatest leadership tools she possesses is her thinking.

Because her thoughts eventually become her words.

    Her words become her actions.

    Her actions become her habits.

    Her habits become her legacy.

    Who is the Matriarch?

The matriarch is not the woman who controls the room.

She is the woman who takes responsibility for the influence she carries in the room.

She is not necessarily the oldest woman.

    She is not necessarily married.

She is not necessarily a mother.

The matriarch is a woman who understands that her life has ripple effects, and she intentionally uses her influence to cultivate wisdom, connection, growth, faith, and legacy in the people and places she touches.

As you begin this series, spend some time reflecting on what the word matriarch means to you.

  • Episode 88: The One Where We Finally Get Honest About Our Dishonesty with Angela Jowers
    2026/06/09

This week in The Journaling Room, I sit down with my dear friend, coach and mentor, Angela Jowers, for a conversation that is equal parts wisdom, laughter, coaching, and truth.

We talk about Angela's unexpected journey into coaching, what happened when she hit a complete crash physically, emotionally, and financially, and how God led her into a calling she never saw coming.

We explore what it means to create with God while releasing attachment to outcomes, why journaling can reveal thoughts you didn't even know you were thinking, and the role honesty plays in transformation.

And toward the end? Angela shares a perspective on dishonesty that stopped me in my tracks. Not the obvious kind—but the subtle ways we hide our true feelings, say we're "fine" when we're not, and lose connection with ourselves in the process.

This conversation will stay with me for a long time. Grab your journal and join us. 🤍

  • Episode 87: Being a Coach and Being Coached with Megan Cheatham
    2026/06/02

This week, my friend and fellow Master Certified Coach Megan Cheatham joined me in the Journaling Room and we pulled back the curtain on what it actually feels like to be coached — and to be the coach.

Some of our favorite one-liners from the episode:

💬 "Turns out, everything your brain offers you isn't always true. Such a lightbulb for me." — Kendall

💬 "You can go to counseling because you think you should — but you come to a coach because you want to change." — Megan

💬 "The quest to make the other person change left me so weary — and it was such an abandonment of myself." — Kendall

💬 "A coach sits at the edge of the pool. She won't get in — but she's not going anywhere either." — Megan

💬 "Coaching showed me I had so many more blind spots than I even knew I had." — Kendall

💬 "There's a little sharp pain in seeing your own responsibility — but it's redemptive. There's a way forward." — Megan

💬 "He will never allow my vulnerability to put me to shame — if I'm willing to stay in it long enough." — Kendall

💬 "Your transformation is transforming them." — Megan

This episode is for the woman curious about coaching, the coach who still needs to be coached, and anyone ready to stop telling the same old story. That's all of us, friend. 🎙See you in The Journaling Room.

  • Episode 86: Marriage Series - Small is Where It Starts
    2026/05/29

Welcome back to The Journaling Room. I'm Kendall — and we made it. This is Episode 3, the final episode of our marriage series, and I have to say — I am so proud of you for staying with this.

We have covered a lot of ground together. In Episode 1, We Chose to Stay, I told you my own story — the year our marriage almost ended, what didn't help, what finally did, and why I believe with everything in me that your marriage is worth fighting for.

In Episode 2, Fire Yourself From the Job, we talked about the one thing you actually have control over in your marriage — and it isn't your husband. It's your thoughts. It's how you show up. It's choosing, every single day, to operate from your true self instead of your fear.

And today — today we get practical.

Because here's what I know about lasting change: it doesn't usually start with a dramatic overhaul. It starts with something small. Something so small it almost feels too simple to matter. And then you do it again the next day. And the day after that. And slowly, quietly, something begins to shift.

This is Episode 3: Small Is Where It Starts.

    JOURNALING PROMPTS

    1. Of the three small actions — the smile, the text, the question — which one feels most available to me right now? What is one specific way I will practice it this week?
    2. What has this marriage series stirred up in me? What feeling has been sitting just underneath the surface that I haven't fully acknowledged yet?
    3. When I picture my marriage five years from now — ten years from now — what do I want it to look like? What would need to be true for that vision to become real?
    4. What is one legacy I want my marriage to leave for my children or grandchildren? What am I already doing that reflects that legacy? What needs to change?
    5. What is the one thought about my husband I want to practice this week — not because he's earned it, but because I'm choosing it?
    6. Where have I been waiting for the big breakthrough instead of honoring the small moment? What small moment is available to me today?
    7. If the woman I am becoming — my truest, most grounded self — looked at my marriage today, what would she say? What would she do first?
