  • S1. Ep.08 The Beliefs That Were Never Yours
    2026/09/01

Finish this sentence: "I'm not the kind of person who…"

Notice how quickly your brain fills in the blank. Notice how true it feels.

Now here's the question Episode 8 of The Gentle Badass asks: what if that's not a fact? What if it's just a very old opinion -one you absorbed so young you never thought to question it?

Most of the beliefs that limit your life were formed before you had the ability to evaluate them. You were small. You were a sponge. Everything went in unfiltered -the way the adults around you talked about money, about themselves, about what was possible and who deserved what. And it all became the lens you've been looking through ever since.

Here's the part that changes things: most of those beliefs were never even about you. They were about the people who gave them to you. Their fears, their limits, their own unhealed stories. You inherited their limitations and then spent decades living as though they were yours.

    In this episode:

    • Why limiting beliefs feel like facts instead of opinions
    • Where beliefs actually come from (and why a five-year-old's conclusions are still running your adult life)
    • Three questions that loosen the grip of any belief you're ready to put down
    • Why you don't have to carry something just because you've been carrying it for a long time

Length of ownership doesn't make something yours. You can have believed something your entire life -and still be allowed to put it down.

  • S1. Ep.07 Positive Realism: The Antidote to Toxic Positivity
    2026/08/19

Someone tells you "everything happens for a reason" on a day when everything feels wrong. And somehow, you feel worse.

Now you're not just dealing with your original problem. You're feeling guilty for not being positive enough about it.

In Episode 7 of The Gentle Badass, we're talking about toxic positivity: why it doesn't work, why it actually makes things harder, and what to do instead.

The alternative isn't pessimism. It's something I call positive realism: the practice of telling yourself the full truth, and choosing hope anyway.

    In this episode:

    • What toxic positivity actually is underneath the good intentions
    • Why forcing a positive spin on a real feeling is a form of self-abandonment
    • The difference between optimism that holds and optimism that's just denial in disguise
    • A simple two-part formula you can use this week when things get hard

The formula: The truth. And. The hope.

"This is really painful AND I trust myself to get through it."
"I'm exhausted AND I'm allowed to rest."
"I have no idea what I'm doing AND I'm figuring it out as I go."

Notice the word is "and," not "but." But cancels out the first half. And lets both things be true at once.

That little word is where the whole shift lives.

  • S1. Ep.06 Feelings Aren't the Enemy. They're the Map.
    2026/08/11

What do you do with a feeling you don't want to feel?

If your answer involves staying busy, opening the fridge for the fourth time, or saying "I'm fine" -this episode is for you.

In Episode 6 of The Gentle Badass, we're talking about feelings. Not the inspirational kind. The inconvenient ones. The ones you've been pushing down, bracing against, and quietly running from for years.

Here's what nobody told you: you can't selectively numb. When you turn down the volume on the hard feelings, you turn it down on all of them. The joy gets quieter. The aliveness fades. That flatness you've been feeling isn't just tiredness. It's the cost of a lifetime of not feeling.

    In this episode:

    • Why suppressed feelings don't disappear — they go under, and wait
    • How to read your emotions as information instead of treating them as problems to solve
    • Where our fear of feelings actually comes from
    • The white light exercise: a simple, grounded practice for letting a feeling move through you without being overwhelmed by it

O ne thing worth knowing before you listen: a feeling, fully felt, lasts about 90 seconds. We've been running from something that, most of the time, passes in less time than it takes to make a cup of tea.

The feelings were never the enemy. They were just the map.
