  • S1. Ep.08 The Beliefs That Were Never Yours
    2026/09/01

Finish this sentence: "I'm not the kind of person who…"

Notice how quickly your brain fills in the blank. Notice how true it feels.

Now here's the question Episode 8 of The Gentle Badass asks: what if that's not a fact? What if it's just a very old opinion -one you absorbed so young you never thought to question it?

Most of the beliefs that limit your life were formed before you had the ability to evaluate them. You were small. You were a sponge. Everything went in unfiltered -the way the adults around you talked about money, about themselves, about what was possible and who deserved what. And it all became the lens you've been looking through ever since.

Here's the part that changes things: most of those beliefs were never even about you. They were about the people who gave them to you. Their fears, their limits, their own unhealed stories. You inherited their limitations and then spent decades living as though they were yours.

    In this episode:

    • Why limiting beliefs feel like facts instead of opinions
    • Where beliefs actually come from (and why a five-year-old's conclusions are still running your adult life)
    • Three questions that loosen the grip of any belief you're ready to put down
    • Why you don't have to carry something just because you've been carrying it for a long time

Length of ownership doesn't make something yours. You can have believed something your entire life -and still be allowed to put it down.

  • S1. Ep.07 Positive Realism: The Antidote to Toxic Positivity
    2026/08/19

Someone tells you "everything happens for a reason" on a day when everything feels wrong. And somehow, you feel worse.

Now you're not just dealing with your original problem. You're feeling guilty for not being positive enough about it.

In Episode 7 of The Gentle Badass, we're talking about toxic positivity: why it doesn't work, why it actually makes things harder, and what to do instead.

The alternative isn't pessimism. It's something I call positive realism: the practice of telling yourself the full truth, and choosing hope anyway.

    In this episode:

    • What toxic positivity actually is underneath the good intentions
    • Why forcing a positive spin on a real feeling is a form of self-abandonment
    • The difference between optimism that holds and optimism that's just denial in disguise
    • A simple two-part formula you can use this week when things get hard

The formula: The truth. And. The hope.

"This is really painful AND I trust myself to get through it."
"I'm exhausted AND I'm allowed to rest."
"I have no idea what I'm doing AND I'm figuring it out as I go."

Notice the word is "and," not "but." But cancels out the first half. And lets both things be true at once.

That little word is where the whole shift lives.

  • S1. Ep.06 Feelings Aren't the Enemy. They're the Map.
    2026/08/11

What do you do with a feeling you don't want to feel?

If your answer involves staying busy, opening the fridge for the fourth time, or saying "I'm fine" -this episode is for you.

In Episode 6 of The Gentle Badass, we're talking about feelings. Not the inspirational kind. The inconvenient ones. The ones you've been pushing down, bracing against, and quietly running from for years.

Here's what nobody told you: you can't selectively numb. When you turn down the volume on the hard feelings, you turn it down on all of them. The joy gets quieter. The aliveness fades. That flatness you've been feeling isn't just tiredness. It's the cost of a lifetime of not feeling.

    In this episode:

    • Why suppressed feelings don't disappear — they go under, and wait
    • How to read your emotions as information instead of treating them as problems to solve
    • Where our fear of feelings actually comes from
    • The white light exercise: a simple, grounded practice for letting a feeling move through you without being overwhelmed by it

O ne thing worth knowing before you listen: a feeling, fully felt, lasts about 90 seconds. We've been running from something that, most of the time, passes in less time than it takes to make a cup of tea.

The feelings were never the enemy. They were just the map.

  • S1. Ep.05 Reparenting: Meeting the One Inside You
    2026/08/04

That child in the photo, the one you can be so endlessly kind to, and the adult sitting here right now? They're the same person.

In this episode of The Gentle Badass, we explore one of the most profound and most misunderstood concepts in personal growth: the inner child. Not as a spiritual metaphor, but as the literal emotional wiring formed when you were small -before you had words, before you had logic, before you could do anything except ask: am I safe, and am I loved?

That part of you didn't disappear when you grew up. It's still there. In the flash of shame that's too big for the situation. In the way your body goes still when someone raises their voice. In the ache that shows up when you achieve something wonderful and feel... nothing. That's not the adult you reacting. That's the child. Still waiting. Still carrying everything they were too small to put down.

This episode is about reparenting -the practice of becoming, for yourself, the adult you needed when you were small. It's not about blame. It's not about re-living old pain. It's about finally giving yourself what may have been missing, and discovering that it's not too late.

    In this episode:

    • Why the inner child isn't a spiritual concept but a neurological reality, and why it matters for your everyday life
    • The difference between how you treat yourself and how you'd treat that child in the photo, and why that gap is the whole work
    • What reparenting actually means and what it looks like in practice
    • The one question that stops the inner critic in its tracks
    • A simple, gentle practice to begin this week -no drama, no meltdowns required

If you've ever felt like you've been waiting for someone to finally see you, validate you, or give you permission to stop being so strong -this episode is for you.

The wait ends when you decide to become the one you were waiting for.

  • S1. Ep. 04 The Voice in Your Head Isn't Yours
    2026/07/14

That voice in your head -the one that started this morning before you even got out of bed- where did it actually come from?

The running commentary that points out everything you did wrong, everything you're not, and everything you should be. The voice that sounds so much like you that you've never stopped to question it.

In this episode of The Gentle Badass, we go straight to the root of one of the most powerful -and most misunderstood- forces in personal growth: the inner critic. Not to silence it, fight it, or pretend it doesn't exist. But to finally understand what it is, where it came from, and why it's been running your life on autopilot.

What most people don't realise: that harsh, critical voice didn't come pre-installed. You weren't born with it. It's a collection -a patchwork of things that were said to you, said around you, implied at a dinner table when you were nine and pretended not to hear. You absorbed it all. And at some point, you internalised it so completely that it started to sound like you.

It isn't you. It's a very old echo, in a voice you've mistaken for your own.

    In this episode:

    — Why your inner critic isn't actually yours - and what it really is

    — The difference between your inner critic and your inner wisdom (they sound similar, but your body always knows which one is talking)

    — Three concrete ways to tell them apart - so you can never be fooled again

    — Why harsh self-criticism has never produced lasting change - and what actually does

    — What the critic is really trying to do underneath all that noise

    — Your one simple practice for this week

The question this episode leaves you with:

    "Whose voice is this, really?"

Ask it. Listen carefully. You might be surprised who answers.

Next week: we go to the source and meet the version of you who first learned all of this. Episode 5 is about reparenting. Bring tissues. Or don't. Either way, I'll be there.

  • S1. Ep. 03 - The Good Child Tax
    2026/07/08

What did it cost you to be the good one?

Being the child who didn't cause problems, who

kept the peace, who made it easy for everyone

else, wasn't free. There was a price. And

most of us have been paying it ever since without

    ever seeing the receipt.

In this episode, we talk about the hidden cost of

people-pleasing: why you learned to shrink, what

you gave up to be agreeable, and what it would

    actually mean to stop.

This one is for the good children. The ones who

grew up and are only now realising how much the

    role cost them.

  • S1. Ep. 02 - When 'Fine' Becomes a Red Flag
    2026/07/03

"I'm fine." Two words we say before we've even checked. In this episode, we look at the kind of "fine" that isn't an answer -it's a coping strategy. The "fine" that means: I'm holding so much that if I open the door even an inch, everything will come out.

We talk about what it actually means when fine stops being true, how to tell the difference, and what to do with the door you've been holding shut.

If you've been "fine" for a while now, this one's for you.
