  • Ohavia Phillips-Reed | From Little Ohavia to Becoming Whole | Episode 7
    2026/09/16

What happens when you stop waiting for permission and decide to bet on yourself?

For Episode 7 of The Closet Confessional, I’m sitting down with Ohavia Phillips-Reed, host, creator, storyteller, entrepreneur, wife, and the woman behind The OH Show. And if you know Ohavia, you already know this conversation was never going to be quiet.

Ohavia has a way of walking into a room and changing the energy. But behind the big personality, the big laugh, and all that OH energy is a story about a little girl who dreamed of having a microphone, a first-generation college graduate finding her way, a woman navigating rejection and reinvention, and someone who ultimately decided to stop waiting for someone else to tell her she belonged.

From television news to creating The OH Show, Ohavia talks about what happens when you hear “no” and decide to build your own “yes.” We get into confidence, visibility, womanhood, marriage, becoming more comfortable taking up space, and what it means to show up as your whole self.

And yes, we open the closet.

Because for Ohavia, style is about more than what you wear. It is part of how you feel, how you see yourself, and how you choose to be seen. The pieces she brings into the conversation become little doorways into memories, identity, confidence, and the rules she has decided she no longer needs to follow.

    • dreaming about a life behind the microphone from childhood
    • being a first-generation college student and finding her path
    • working in television news and navigating rejection
    • the moment “no” became the beginning of The OH Show
    • betting on yourself before you have all the answers
    • confidence, visibility, and taking up space
    • womanhood, marriage, and becoming more fully yourself
    • the stories and memories hiding inside the closet
    • using personal style as a tool for confidence and self-expression
    • sharing clothes, breaking style rules, and deciding which rules actually matter
    • what it means to become “whole”
    • and, of course, the Fast Five

This conversation is full of big energy, big laughs, honest moments, and some really good reminders about what can happen when you stop shrinking yourself to fit the room.

The clothes are the thread. The story is you.

  • Blair Scheuer of That's Very Blair | Reinvention, Motherhood, Confidence, Personal Style | Episode 6
    2026/09/11

What happens when the woman you thought you were supposed to become turns into someone completely different?

In this episode, I sit down with Blair Scheuer of That's Very Blair for a conversation about reinvention, motherhood, confidence, career, identity, and all the chapters that make us who we are.

Blair is a former attorney, a proud mama, a lover of personal style, and the woman behind That's Very Blair. But this conversation isn't really about what she wears. It's about the woman underneath it all.

We talk about leaving a career in law and creating a new path, finding yourself within motherhood, building a brand in the public eye, and learning to give yourself permission to evolve. Then we open Blair's closet, where the pieces she has chosen reveal memories, unexpected stories, and different versions of herself.

Because sometimes the things we keep in our closets tell us something about who we were, who we are, and who we're still becoming.

  • Amber Habit of A Shopping Habit | Vintage Style, Thrifting, Confidence & Personal Style | Episode 5
    2026/09/01

What do working on cars, loving vintage, raising a family, and a rhinestone-covered gown have in common? They're all part of Amber Habit's story.

In this episode, I sit down with Amber Habit of A Shopping Habit for a conversation about personal style, confidence, family, creativity, vintage, and the pieces we choose to keep.

Amber grew up a tomboy, playing sports, working on cars with her dad, and embracing a little DIY everything. Somewhere along the way, that love of making, finding, and figuring things out became part of her journey into vintage and the world of A Shopping Habit.

We talk about the women who influenced her style, her evolution into what she calls "70s boho maximalist," learning to dress for comfort and for herself, and why a great piece is about so much more than its price tag. Then we open her closet and discover the stories behind the pieces she can't let go of, from a fabulous rhinestone Giovani gown to beloved house dresses, animal print, and pieces waiting for their next chapter.

This is a conversation about personal style, but more than that, it's about knowing what makes you feel like yourself.

  • Whitley Adkins, The Queen City Style | Fashion, Entrepreneurship & Finding Your Way Home | Episode 4
    2026/08/26

What happens when a woman who has spent years telling everyone else's stories gets the chance to tell her own?

In this episode, I sit down with my friend Whitley Adkins of The Queen City Style for a conversation about personal style, entrepreneurship, creativity, community, and finding your way home.

Whitley's story begins in Asheville and Eastern North Carolina, where her grandmother and great-grandmother helped shape her early love of fashion. From there, she found her way to New York City, built a career in the fashion world, and eventually returned to North Carolina to make Charlotte home.

We talk about starting The Queen City Style, building a 15-year career, the people and creative relationships that helped shape her along the way, and what it means to keep evolving while staying authentically yourself. We also go behind the scenes of fashion photography, talk about her work with Richard Israel, and celebrate the 10th edition of SouthPark Magazine's The IT List.

And then, of course, we open her closet.

Because the pieces we keep are rarely just pieces. They hold memories, relationships, places we've been, people we've loved, and versions of ourselves we don't want to forget.

    2026/08/21

What are you carrying that no one else can see?

In this episode, I sit down with Kiah Bachman, founder of A Journey I Deserve and creator of I Can Hold Your Heavy, for a conversation about identity, healing, grief, confidence, creativity, and what it really means to be seen.

Kiah shares the experiences that shaped her, from growing up feeling different to navigating a PCOS diagnosis and a body that changed dramatically. We talk about the invisible things we all carry, the courage it takes to ask for help, and how healing can begin when someone simply sits with us in our heavy.

We also talk about the story behind A Journey I Deserve and the inspiration for I Can Hold Your Heavy, and how fashion, community, and storytelling became part of Kiah's own journey.

Then we step inside her closet, where family heirlooms, thrifted handbags, handmade jewelry, and bold personal style become windows into the chapters of her life.

This conversation is a reminder that whatever you're carrying, you don't have to carry it alone.

  • Dr. Davita Galloway of Dupp&Swat | Confidence, Self-Love, Purpose & Community | Episode 2
    2026/08/15

Before we talk about what someone has built, I want to know what built them.

In this episode, I sit down with Dr. Davita Galloway, an educator, entrepreneur, mentor, community builder, and someone who has spent years creating opportunities for others.

But this conversation isn't about her accomplishments or the many hats she wears. It's about the woman behind the impact.

Davita and I talk about her childhood, the people who shaped her, the challenges and "no's" she encountered along the way, and the moments that changed how she saw herself. We explore confidence, self-image, self-love, purpose, and the journey of learning to believe in yourself.

We also talk about why creating space for other people has become such an important part of her life's work, and the people who opened doors for her before she learned how to open them for others.

Then we open her closet, where the pieces she brings with her become part of the story, connecting childhood, family, transformation, confidence, community, and the woman she is still becoming.

This is a conversation about becoming, believing in yourself, and choosing to leave the door open for someone else.

  • Elizabeth Lavan of Nina's Boutique | Style, Confidence, Community & Fast Five | Episode 1, Part 2
    2026/08/11

We're continuing the conversation with Elizabeth Lavan, owner of Nina's Boutique.

In Part 2, we go deeper into the relationship between style, confidence, community, and the stories we carry with us. Elizabeth shares what years of connecting with women through Nina's have taught her about belonging, self-expression, and making people feel seen.

We also talk about how Elizabeth's own style and perspective have evolved, the chapter of life she's in now, and what she's still becoming.

Then we open the closet door.

The pieces Elizabeth has chosen give us another way into the memories, relationships, and seasons that have shaped her. And, of course, we finish with a little fun and The Closet Confessional Fast Five.

Because ultimately, this isn't really about the clothes. It's about the memories they hold, the stories they tell, and the people we've become along the way.

  • Elizabeth Lavan of Nina's Boutique | Personal Style, Confidence & Finding Your Story | Episode 1, Part 1
    2026/08/11

What if the things hanging in your closet could tell the story of how you became yourself?

For the very first episode of The Closet Confessional, I sit down with Elizabeth Lavan, owner of Nina's Boutique, and someone who has spent years helping women discover confidence, connection, and self-expression through style.

But this isn't a conversation about fashion trends or what we're wearing. It's about the woman behind the wardrobe.

In Part 1, Elizabeth and I go back to the beginning. We talk about her early relationship with style, the experiences that shaped her, taking risks, finding confidence, and the journey that eventually led her to Nina's Boutique.

Along the way, we start uncovering something I believe about all of us: the things we keep in our closets often carry much more than we realize.

This is where it all begins.
