Is this even the right way to look at it? Even if you have the means for college is that the right message? We can't win all the time. In fact we're going to accumulate the L's most of our lives. Teaching our kids to deal with losing effectively and even embracing losing as a learning opportunity is part of a dad's responsibility.

Our kids have a lot to do, and the things they have to do (like year-round sports) are more demanding of their time than ever. So are our kids overscheduled? Or... If they don't have enough to do will they be sitting on the couch playing too much Playstation? Or on their phone? A discussion for dads dealing with overscheduled kids (or not enough schedule).
