  • How to Read the Bible | Brad Straarup
    2026/04/13

The Bible is the most important book in history… but for so many of us, it stays closed.

Not because we don’t care but because we don’t know how.

This week, we kick off a brand new series, How to Read the Bible, and start with the basics: how to actually approach Scripture in a way that makes sense and transforms your life.

In this message, we break down:

    • Why the Bible feels confusing, overwhelming, or hard to apply

    • What the Bible actually is—and how we got it

    • How to choose a translation, time, place, and plan that works

    • A simple, practical 4-step method to understand any passage

    • How to move from just reading the Bible… to being changed by it

Because the goal isn’t information—it’s transformation.

The Bible doesn’t just teach you about God…

it shows you how to walk with Him.

    📖 Scriptures referenced:

    Psalm 19:7–11 • 2 Timothy 3:16–17 • Hebrews 4:12 • 1 Corinthians 2:14 • James 1:16–18 • Philippians 4:11–13

    🙌 Next Step:

    Choose a translation you understand.

Choose a time, place, and plan you’ll keep.

Choose the right approach—and start this week.

  • The Miracle of the Resurrection | Easter at Spirit | Brad Straarup
    2026/04/06

He went to the cross… but He didn’t stay there.
He went to the tomb… but He didn’t stay there.
On the third day… He got up.

This Easter message walks through the final and greatest sign in the Gospel of John—the resurrection of Jesus.

Throughout John, every miracle is called a sign. Why? Because signs aren’t the point… they point to something greater. And the resurrection is the sign that changes everything.

In this message, we explore the tension so many people feel:
If God is good… why doesn’t He always do what we expect?

Mary and Martha believed Jesus could have healed Lazarus, but He didn’t show up in time. And yet, what looked like absence was actually part of a greater plan. Because Jesus didn’t just come to heal—He came to raise the dead.

This message is for anyone who has ever felt disappointed, distant, or unsure where God is. Because the resurrection isn’t just something that happened—it’s an invitation to believe.

    Either it’s real… or it’s not.
And if it is, everything changes.

    📖 Scriptures referenced:
    John 11 • John 20 • Psalm 34:17 • Matthew 16:12

    🙌 Next Step:
Don’t build your faith on what you see—build it on who Jesus is. Trust Him, even when you don’t understand Him.

  • Raising Lazarus | Brad Straarup
    2026/03/30

What do you do when God doesn’t come through the way you thought He would?

In John 11, Mary and Martha are facing the unthinkable—their brother Lazarus is dead. They know Jesus can heal… but He doesn’t show up in time. And in that moment, they’re not questioning if He can—they’re questioning why He didn’t.

This message speaks to anyone walking through disappointment, pain, or unanswered prayers. Because sometimes God’s love doesn’t look like immediate intervention—it looks like waiting, silence, or something we don’t understand.

But what if God isn’t absent… just working in a way we can’t yet see?

Jesus reveals something deeper in this story—not just that He can heal, but that He is the resurrection and the life. And sometimes, what feels like the end is actually where God does His greatest work.

    📖 Scriptures referenced:
    John 11:1–45 • John 20:30–31 • Psalm 34:17 • Revelation 3:20 • Revelation 20:14

🙌 Next Step: Trust God—not just when He says “yes,” but when He says “no” or “wait.” He may not be doing what you want, but He’s always doing something greater.

  • What I Know | Brad Straarup
    2026/03/23

What do you hold onto when you don’t understand what God is doing?

In John 9, Jesus heals a man born blind—but the bigger story isn’t just about sight, it’s about trust in the middle of uncertainty. When asked to explain everything, the man responds simply: “I don’t know… but I was blind and now I see.”

We all face moments where life doesn’t make sense—where suffering hits, prayers feel unanswered, and we’re left asking why. This message reminds us that even when we don’t know why, we can still stand on what we do know.

We know that Jesus sees us, He sends us, He can use our pain for His purpose—and ultimately, He saves. The greatest miracle isn’t just physical healing, it’s spiritual sight.

    📖 Scriptures referenced:
    John 9:1–41 • John 8:58–59 • Isaiah 55:8–9 • Job 38:1–5 • Job 40:4–5 • 1 Timothy 3:9 • 1 Corinthians 2:16 • Romans 5:3–4 • 2 Corinthians 4:17 • Ephesians 1:18

🙌 Next Step: Even if you don’t understand everything, trust what you do know about God—He is good, He is faithful, and He sees you.

  • The Bread of Life | Brad Straarup
    2026/03/16

Have you ever felt like you don’t have enough?

Not enough strength. Not enough faith. Not enough resources. Not enough hope to keep going.

In Week 4 of our Miracles of Jesus series, we look at the feeding of the five thousand and meet Jesus as Provider and the Bread of Life. When the disciples saw a massive need, they focused on what they lacked. But Jesus was never asking them to be enough on their own—He was teaching them to trust the One who always is.

This miracle reminds us that God can take what feels small, insufficient, and unimpressive and multiply it in His hands. What we bring to Jesus, He can bless, break, and use. And often, the answer to our current doubt is remembering His past faithfulness.

If you’ve been battling doubt, feeling deficient, or wondering whether God will come through for you again, this message is for you.

    📖 Scriptures referenced:
    John 6:1–14 • John 6:25–35 • Matthew 14:22 • Mark 6:51–52 • Matthew 6:19–21 • Matthew 6:33 • Matthew 16:24 • 1 Corinthians 1:27 • 2 Chronicles 7:14 • Deuteronomy 8:2

🙌 Next Step: Bring what you have to Jesus. Remember His faithfulness, remember the bread, and trust the Source.

  • The Change You Didn't Expect | Brad Straarup
    2026/03/09

Have you ever felt stuck in something you can’t seem to change?

In John 5, Jesus walks into a place full of brokenness and meets a man who had been in the same condition for 38 years. When Jesus approaches him, He asks a surprising question: “Do you want to get well?”

Sometimes we spend our lives asking God to change our circumstances, while God is trying to change something inside of us. The miracle at Bethesda shows us that what we’ve tried to fix on our own—what we’ve tried to heal through our own strength—Jesus can heal.

The signs in John’s Gospel all point to something greater: Jesus is the Lamb of God, the source of grace, and the Living Water who can bring life where we feel stuck, broken, or paralyzed.

    📖 Scriptures referenced:

    John 5:1–16 • John 20:31 • James 1:22–25 • 1 Peter 5:8–9 • James 4:7 • John 1:29 • John 9:1–3 • Luke 22:31–32 • Genesis 22:1 • Deuteronomy 8:2 • 1 Peter 1:6–7

🙌 Next Step: Bring the thing you’ve been trying to fix on your own to Jesus. There is freedom and life in Him.

  • Does God Still Heal Today? | Brad Straarup
    2026/03/02

What if one word from Jesus could change everything?

In John 4, a royal official comes to Jesus with a son who’s close to death. He begs Jesus to come—but instead, Jesus speaks: “Go… your son will live.” No touch. No journey. Just a word.

This is the second sign in John’s Gospel, and it reveals who Jesus is. His authority isn’t limited by distance, status, or even death itself. But it also presses a deeper question: will we believe Him before we see the outcome?

In this message, we talk honestly about healing today—how God heals, what role faith plays, why some are healed now and others in eternity, and how to trust God without carrying guilt or shame.

  • Water into Wine | Brad Straarup
    2026/02/24

Who is Jesus… really? In this 7-week series leading up to Easter, we’re walking through the seven signs in the Gospel of John — miracles that don’t just show what Jesus can do, but reveal who He is.

John tells us his purpose clearly: these signs were written so that we may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God — and that by believing, we may have life in His name (John 20:30–31).

This week, we begin with Jesus’ first sign: turning water into wine at a wedding in Cana (John 2). But this miracle is more than saving a celebration. It’s a sign pointing to a new Kingdom.

Stone jars used for ceremonial cleansing.

    Water meant for ritual washing.
Jesus doesn’t empty them — He fills them and transforms them.

Cana points to Calvary. The wine foreshadows the blood He would one day shed. What was once impure can be made new. What was once incomplete can be made whole.

At the center of it all is one simple call:
    “Do whatever He tells you.”

Belief isn’t just knowledge. It’s obedience.
Small steps of faith. On-the-way trust.
