    (John 13:1-17) 1 It was just before the Passover Festival. Jesus knew that the hour had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end. 2 The evening meal was in progress, and the devil had already prompted Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus. 3 Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God; 4 so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. 5 After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him. 6 He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, “Lord, are you going to wash my feet?” 7 Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.” 8 “No,” said Peter, “you shall never wash my feet.” Jesus answered, “Unless I wash you, you have no part with me.” 9 “Then, Lord,” Simon Peter replied, “not just my feet but my hands and my head as well!” 10 Jesus answered, “Those who have had a bath need only to wash their feet; their whole body is clean. And you are clean, though not every one of you.” 11 For he knew who was going to betray him, and that was why he said not everyone was clean. 12 When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. “Do you understand what I have done for you?” he asked them. 13 “You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. 14 Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. 15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. 16 Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. 17 Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them

    (Mark 9:35) Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, “Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.

    (Matthew 20:26-28) 26 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, 27 and whoever wants to be first must be your slave— 28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

    (Acts 26:16)Now get up and stand on your feet. I have appeared to you to appoint you as a servant and as a witness of what you have seen and will see of me.

    A lifetime commitment to serve people’s needs in such a way that magnifies Jesus, not me.

    (Philippians 2:3-4) 3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

    (Romans 8:39) No power in the sky above or in the earth below - indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

    (Romans 10:13) For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

    (Luke 19:10 NIV) For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.

    (Ezekiel 34:11 NIV) For this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I myself will search for my sheep and look after them.

    (Romans 5:8 NIV) But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

    (2 Corinthians 4:16-18 NIV) 16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.

    I.Running On Empty

    John 2:1-3 – On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, 2 and Jesus and His disciples had also been invited to the wedding. 3 When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to Him, “They have no more wine.”

    · We focus on Feelings instead of faith

    2 Corinthians 5:7 – For we live by faith, not by sight

    · We take matters into our own hands

    · We exaggerate the negative

    2 Corinthians 1:20 – For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ.

    II. The Miracle Worker

    1. Do what He tells you to do

    2. Believe the Unbelievable

    Mark 10:27 – “Jesus looked at them and said, ‘With man this is impossible, but with God, all things are possible.’”

    3. Expect the best

    Ephesians 3:20 – “Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than we can ask or even imaging, according to His power that is at work within us.”

    III. The Greatest Miracle

    (Psalms 77:14 TLB) You are the God of miracles and wonders! You still demonstrate your awesome power.

    • In every story of need, there is a miracle of provision.
    • When God guides, He always provides.

    (Isaiah 58:11 NIV) The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.

    • God’s provision is always there when we are obedient to His will.

    Why the first ten percent?

    (Luke 21:1-4) 1 As Jesus looked up, he saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. 2 He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. 3 “Truly I tell you,” He said, “this poor widow has put in more than all the others. 4 All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in all she had to live on.”

    • Where do I tithe?

    (1 Corinthians 16:2) On the first day of every week each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with your income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made.

    (Malachi 3:10) Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.

    • Give your heart direction.

    (Matthew 6:21) For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

    (1 Corinthians 10:13 NIV) No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

    (Genesis 37:5-7) 5 Joseph had a dream, and when he told it to his brothers, they hated him all the more. 6 He said to them, “Listen to this dream I had: 7 We were binding sheaves of grain out in the field when suddenly my sheaf rose and stood upright, while your sheaves gathered around mine and bowed down to it.”

    (Genesis 37:19-20) 19 “Here comes that dreamer!” they said to each other. 20 “Come now, let’s kill him and throw him into one of these cisterns and say that a ferocious animal devoured him. Then we’ll see what comes of his dreams.”

    (Habakkuk 2:5-10 GNT) 5 Wealth is deceitful. Greedy people are proud and restless—like death itself they are never satisfied. That is why they conquer nation after nation for themselves. 6 The conquered people will taunt their conquerors and show their scorn for them. They will say, “You take what isn't yours, but you are doomed! How long will you go on getting rich by forcing your debtors to pay up?” 7 But before you know it, you that have conquered others will be in debt yourselves and be forced to pay interest. Enemies will come and make you tremble. They will plunder you! 8 You have plundered the people of many nations, but now those who have survived will plunder you because of the murders you have committed and because of your violence against the people of the world and its cities. 9 You are doomed! You have made your family rich with what you took by violence and have tried to make your own home safe from harm and danger! 10 But your schemes have brought shame on your family; by destroying many nations you have only brought ruin on yourself.

    (Habakkuk 2:1-2) 1 I will climb my watchtower and wait to see what the Lord will tell me to say and what answer he will give to my complaint.

    2 The Lord gave me this answer: “Write down clearly on tablets what I reveal to you, so that it can be read at a glance.

    (Luke 5:16 NIV) But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.

    (Psalms 46:10) He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

    (Psalms 62:5) Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him.

    (Ephesians 1:17-18) 17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. 18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people,

Go to the prophets of your father and the prophets of your mother.” “No,” the king of Israel answered, “because it was the Lord who called us three kings together to deliver us into the hands of Moab.” 14 Elisha said, “As surely as the Lord Almighty lives, whom I serve, if I did not have respect for the presence of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, I would not pay any attention to you.
