Summer at Shiloh Part 2 Pastor David King

(Proverbs 17:24 GNT) An intelligent person aims at wise action, but a fool starts off in many directions.

    1. My __________ is lower.

(Luke 21:34 NIV) “Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you suddenly like a trap.

    2. My _____________ are inconsistent.

(Job 9:25 NLV) “My days go faster than a runner. They fly away, and see no good.

    3. My _________________ suffers.

(Proverbs 21:5 MSG) Careful planning puts you ahead in the long run; hurry and scurry puts you further behind.

    4. My ______________ meaning.

(Psalms 39:6 NLT) We are merely moving shadows, and all our busy rushing ends in nothing. We heap up wealth, not knowing who will

    spend it.

    5. My __________________________ seems distant.

(Psalms 46:10 NIV) He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

The distance between the truth I _______ and the truth I __________ equals the pain I experience.

    What will I do?

(Hebrews 4:9-11 NIV) 9 There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; 10 for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his. 11 Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience.

    1. I will _________ my body.

(Psalms 127:2) In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat—for he grants sleep to those he loves.

    2. I will _____________ my soul:

    a. With _______________.

(Psalms 23:2-3) 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, 3 he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.

    b. With _______________.

(Proverbs 17:22) A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.

    c. With ________________.

(Hebrews 10:25) not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

    3. I will _____________ my spirit.

(Psalms 92: 1-2, 10, 12, 14) 1 It is good to praise the Lord and make music to your name, O Most High, 2 proclaiming your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night, 10 You have exalted my horn like that of a wild ox; fine oils have been poured on me. 12 The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; 14 They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green,

Summer at Shiloh - Pastor David King

(Joel 2:12) “Even now,” declares the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.”

(Joel 2:25) “I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten—the great locust and the young locust, the other locusts and the locust swarm—my great army that I sent among you.

“I see a church where the people have found a _______________ with God instead of _____________ and where living for God is no longer a duty, it’s a __________.”

(Matthew 15:8-9) 8 “‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. 9 They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules.’”

(Romans 12:11) Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.

(John 2:14-17) 14 In the temple courts he found people selling cattle, sheep and doves, and others sitting at tables exchanging money. 15 So he made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple courts, both sheep and cattle; he scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables. 16 To those who sold doves he said, “Get these out of here! Stop turning my Father’s house into a market!” 17 His disciples remembered that it is written: “Zeal for your house will consume me.”

    1. Passion for ____________.

(Matthew 21:13) “It is written,” he said to them, “‘My house will be called a house of prayer,’ but you are making it ‘a den of robbers.’”

(James 5:16) Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

    2. Passion for __________ and ______________.

(Mark 12:30) Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.

(2 Samuel 6:20-22) 20 When David returned home to bless his household, Michal daughter of Saul came out to meet him and said, “How the king of Israel has distinguished himself today, going around half-naked in full view of the slave girls of his servants as any vulgar fellow would!” 21 David said to Michal, “It was before the Lord, who chose me rather than your father or anyone from his house when he appointed me ruler over the Lord’s people Israel—I will celebrate before the Lord. 22 I will become even more undignified than this, and I will be humiliated in my own eyes. But by these slave girls you spoke of, I will be held in honor.”

We give God what He __________, not what we ______.

    3. Passion for ______________.

(Numbers 25:11) Phinehas son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron, the priest, has turned my anger away from the Israelites. Since he was as zealous for my honor among them as I am, I did not put an end to them in my zeal.

(2 Kings 10:16) Jehu said, “Come with me and see my zeal for the Lord.” Then he had him ride along in his chariot.

    4. Passion for ____________.

(John 3:16) For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

(Acts 20:24) However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.

(Revelation 2:4-5) 4 Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first. 5 Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.

What’s Next? Part 5 Pastor David King

    The Passion of Paul

(1 Corinthians 9:19-23 MSG) 19-23 Even though I am free of the demands and expectations of everyone, I have voluntarily become a servant to any and all in order to reach a wide range of people: religious, nonreligious, meticulous moralists, loose-living immoralists, the defeated, the demoralized—whoever. I didn’t take on their way of life. I kept my bearings in Christ—but I entered their world and tried to experience things from their point of view. I’ve become just about every sort of servant there is in my attempts to lead those I meet into a God-saved life. I did all this because of the Message. I didn’t just want to talk about it; I wanted to be in on it!

    1. His Passion _______________.

(Philippians 2:1-8 MSG) 1-4 If you’ve gotten anything at all out of following Christ, if his love has made any difference in your life, if being in a community of the Spirit means anything to you, if you have a heart, if you care—then do me a favor: Agree with each other, love each other, be deep-spirited friends. Don’t push your way to the front; don’t sweet-talk your way to the top. Put yourself aside, and help others get ahead. Don’t be obsessed with getting your own advantage. Forget yourselves long enough to lend a helping hand.

5-8 Think of yourselves the way Christ Jesus thought of himself. He had equal status with God but didn’t think so much of himself that he had to cling to the advantages of that status no matter what. Not at all. When the time came, he set aside the privileges of deity and took on the status of a slave, became human! Having become human, he stayed human. It was an incredibly humbling process. He didn’t claim special privileges. Instead, he lived a selfless, obedient life and then died a selfless, obedient death—and the worst kind of death at that—a crucifixion.

    2. His passion ____________________.

    God loves _________.

    God loves _________.

    God loves people ______________________.

    God loves people ______________________.

    God loves people ______________________.

    3. His passion established his ___________________.

(1 Corinthians 9:21 MSG) I didn’t take on their way of life. I kept my bearings in Christ.

    4. His passion challenged him to get out of his _________________ and enter into their _______.

(1 Corinthians 9:22 MSG) I kept my bearings in Christ—but I entered their world and tried to experience things from their point of view.
