  • What can we learn from feeling fogged in?
    2024/04/26

On this episode, I share a recent beach trip experience I had, where we experienced a dense fog that engulfed the entire beach and the entire environment. It was a surreal experience and one that captivated me and also helped me draw a few perspectives as it relates to our personal life and journey. I share my perspectives on the idea of feeling fogged in and how we can navigate these uncharted territories while feeling like we're trapped or stuck on our path. I also give some examples tied into this experience that I had where I felt unsure and uncertain about making certain life and career decisions. I also give some key takeaways as to what we can do when we find ourselves in a state like this or an environment like this such as perhaps learning to practice more patience, or learning to find stillness in order to allow the things that are trying to emerge out of our life to emerge or perhaps just reminding ourselves to have faith on our journey and know that what's ahead although may feel uncertain is not always a bad thing or negative.

  • What is shadow work and what is the purpose of doing shadow work?
    2024/04/19

On this episode, I share my experience with my healing journey that led me to doing shadow work. I share the idea and concept of the shadow work which was coined by Swiss psychiatrist, Carl Jung who believed there to be four main functions that control how people view and act in the world relating to his renowned studies around the four major archetypes:

    1. The Persona otherwise our personality, what we show the world.
    2. The Shadow otherwise our subconscious and unconscious habits/behaviors, patterns, beliefs etc. that may be hidden and/or repressed.
    3. The Anima/Animus otherwise our unconscious masculine & feminine energies as it relates to each respective gender.
    4. The Self otherwise our unified unconscious and conscious self within our own being aka our whole self.

I also share my experience doing the shadow work based on Carl Jung's theories and the tools and practices that I have found to be helpful for anyone interested in exploring further. Shadow work has many purposes and benefits in my opinion but one the most notable is learning to assimilate the parts of the self that are often considered undesirable. These aspects of our personality, often referred to as our "shadow," can include traits, emotions, and desires that we are not proud of or feel uncomfortable facing. By shining a light on our shadow and integrating these aspects into our consciousness, we can work towards a greater sense of self-awareness and personal growth. Embracing shadow work can be a transformative journey towards wholeness and authenticity. As a result of doing this work, we can to develop compassion for not only ourselves but others as well. • Is it possible to truly come to a level of self-acceptance?
    2024/04/12

On this episode we explore the idea of coming to a level of self-acceptance and what that might entail. I share my perspective on working with this often difficult process that we must all be willing to face in order to become our true selves and learn to integrate both the positive and the negative aspects of our personality. When we're self-accepting, we embrace every part of ourselves and learn to recognize some of our perceived weaknesses as strengths. I share an example of my personal discoveries with self-acceptance. I also highlight the importance of working through the shadow so we can begin to integrate all these aspects of ourselves in order to experience who we truly are and come into alignment with our oneness and most importantly not be afraid to live in our authenticity in a world that can be very judgmental at times. I also share some practical steps that can be helpful as we navigate this stage. These steps can help empower us to accept all of our traits & attributes that make us unique and complete. • What inspired Shadow Space and what working through the shadow can do for you?
    2024/04/05

On this episode, I share my journey through creating Shadow Space and the purpose behind my Podcast and Website which is now live, so feel free to visit Shadowspacehealing.com. The concept was initiated through my own experiences and struggles through my healing journey that began years ago where I felt alone, without any support or understanding of what was transpiring in my life at the time. Based on what I learned, I wanted to create a space where people can come and tune in where we openly talk about this often perceived darkness and doing the shadow work and the value of doing this work for your overall well-being. I hope this episode inspires you all to begin your deep self-inquiries that will hopefully lead you to a place of self-acceptance and wholeness.

  • Why is self-forgiveness important for you?
    2024/03/29

On this episode I share my breakthrough story that I had recently with self-forgiveness. I was brought to understand this topic from a different perspective that I thought would be helpful to share with others. I also share my perspective on self-forgiveness from a spiritual and practical side. I believe embracing self-forgiveness enables us to move forward with a renewed sense of positivity and resilience, empowering us to create a brighter future for yourself, one that we are worthy of experiencing without all the suffering that can be associated with unforgiveness. I also think it's important to look at ourselves and others compassionately and remember that we are all human, and making mistakes is a natural part of life and part of our learning experiences. By integrating all parts of who we are can lead to greater self-acceptance and inner peace.

  • Why is self-delusion so common?
    2024/03/22

On this episode, I share my story around my experiences with self-delusion which can be a common trait that affects many of us. That being said, I want to be very mindful and also say that I am not a mental health specialist/professional who can speak to this topic from a mental health perspective, which is something I should've addressed on my show but didn't. I fully respect anyone who is dealing with mental health struggles as it relates to this topic and in no way want to undermine anyone doing this very important work to help those who may be suffering. My episode focuses on the context of habits and behaviors we may frequently experience without much awareness. I share my perspective on how self-delusion can impact us and impair us to a degree from doing the the things and going after the things we want and wish for in life. I also share some of the tools that have helped me identify my own self-delusional thoughts and beliefs along the way. I believe we can all overcome these limiting beliefs by seeking the support we need, or perhaps using helpful tools and healthy coping mechanisms we can lean on.

  • How can self-criticism present a block in our life?
    2024/03/15

On this episode, I talk about self-criticism and how that might show up in our life. I share my story on how I've experienced a great deal of self-criticism lately and how I was reminded of this pattern that often stems from how we were raised, or conditioned growing up. I also share my viewpoint on no matter who we are and what level of knowledge we may have surrounding self-criticism it impacts all of us to some degree on a very personal level. The challenge with self-criticism is that it's an internal dialogue that is not visible to others and therefore it's hard to snap out of it, especially if you don't have the level of awareness required to recognize it and work through it. If we don't address this pattern it can sometimes create a block in our life and prevent us from moving forward or going after the things we want to go after. It can also hinder us in ways that prevent us from having a positive outlook about our life.

  • Why do we self-sabotage?
    2024/03/08

Psychology Today states that the most common self-sabotaging behaviors include procrastination, self-medication with drugs or alcohol, comfort eating. and forms of self-injury such as cutting. On this episode, I share my experiences with self-sabotaging behaviors and how they have hindered me in my life. As most of us aren't consciously aware of the things we do and why we do them, it's always enlightening once we discover that we may have been participating in our own self-defeating consequences. Despite the fact that we may always find ourselves blaming others for our shortcomings. I think it's always important to look at ourselves objectively, honestly and see where these behaviors are rooted and why they keep happening, especially if they are causing a block for us. It's also worth mentioning that once we make that connection, gain the insight and understanding behind our behaviors, we can then begin to work through them. I also highlight practical ways we can begin to work through the habits to overcome these self-sabotaging patterns.
