Fossil evidence for evolution. Evolutionists claim that the fossil record provides the most fundamental evidence that evolution occurred. If evolution did indeed occur, we would expect evidence for this to permeate all levels of investigation in the fossil record - from first glance to the finest details. Assuming the fossil record represents long ages, examples of intermediate species in evolutionary transition should be found captured in the rock layers. But is this actually what we see?

Fossils and archaeology. Evolutionary assumptions place fossil formation millions of years in the past. However, fossils themselves present some problems with this assumption. Many palaeontologists have now been able to extract soft tissues from fossils, such as proteins, DNA, collagen, red blood cells and haemoglobin. These molecules are very delicate and degrade in 20,000 years or less in average conditions. This evidence is completely at odds with long age theories. Soft tissue molecules, such as DNA, also provide evidence that directly challenges conventional thought about species evolution.

The fossil record presents some stunning realities about what life was like on earth in the past. The diversity of life species was extraordinary compared to what we have today. Fossils also tell a story of massive extinction. And the way the fossil record has preserved evidence of these countless different species can only be conceivable through catastrophic conditions. If at first the fossil record seemed to indicate long age rock layer and fossil formation by gradual processes, the evidence that has now accumulated calls this into serious question.
