Saint Averkios the Wonderworker and the Martyrs of Adrianopolis
    2026/10/22
Today we remember Saint Averkios, the Wonderworker and Bishop of Hieropolis, known as Equal of the Apostles for his powerful ministry and miracles. Living in the second century, he boldly preached the Christian faith among pagans, healed the sick, and cast out demons, leading many to baptism. We also honor Hieromartyr Alexander, Bishop of Adrianopolis, and the martyrs Heraclius, Anna, Elizabeth, Theodota, and Glyceria. In the third century, they stood firm in their faith despite severe persecution, enduring torture and death rather than renouncing Christ.

Today we remember Saint Hilarion, the first native Russian Metropolitan of Kiev, who served during the time of Prince Yaroslav the Wise. He was known for his deep spiritual life, theological knowledge, and his important role in establishing the independence of the Russian Church from Constantinople. Saint Hilarion is especially remembered for his theological work, the “Discourse Concerning Law and Grace,” which explains the place of the Russian Church in salvation history and celebrates the Christian faith of the Russian people. His legacy continues in the Church’s prayers and writings.

  • Greatmartyr Artemius of Antioch and Righteous Child Artemius of Verkola

Greatmartyr Artemius of Antioch and Righteous Child Artemius of Verkola
    2026/10/20
Today we remember two saints named Artemius. The first is Greatmartyr Artemius of Antioch, a military leader who boldly confessed Christ and suffered martyrdom under Emperor Julian the Apostate. The second is the Righteous Child Artemius of Verkola, a young boy whose incorrupt relics became a source of healing for many. Both saints show us different ways of faithfulness—through courageous witness and innocent holiness. Their lives encourage us to trust in God's protection and grace in all circumstances.
