Today we remember Saint Averkios, the Wonderworker and Bishop of Hieropolis, known as Equal of the Apostles for his powerful ministry and miracles. Living in the second century, he boldly preached the Christian faith among pagans, healed the sick, and cast out demons, leading many to baptism. We also honor Hieromartyr Alexander, Bishop of Adrianopolis, and the martyrs Heraclius, Anna, Elizabeth, Theodota, and Glyceria. In the third century, they stood firm in their faith despite severe persecution, enduring torture and death rather than renouncing Christ.
