  • Running from New York City to Boston with Tom Hanlon
    2026/08/30
This week I had an awesome conversation with Tom Hanlon. Tom is a former college miler turned ultra runner who has thrown down some wild efforts in his two years in the sport. We talk about his recent 244 mile effort running from New York City to Boston in 72 hours and 50 minutes to set the FKT and raise over $14,000 for the Jason R. Flood Memorial Foundation. Tom breaks down the entire journey from starting at midnight in Times Square, battling exhaustion and sleep deprivation, and dealing with the high and lows to push all the way to the Boston Marathon finish line. We also dive into his quick rise in ultra running, including a second place finish at the Vermont 100, placing 17th (7:16min/mi pace over 50 miles) at JFK 50, and his experience running Western States. Finally, we chat about balancing high level competition while keeping the love for the sport and big adventures.HOW TO FIND TOM:https://www.instagram.com/tomhanlon_ultra/https://www.youtube.com/@TomHanlonUltraJASON R. • Jigger Johnson 100 Mile NEW Course Records with Conor Brown and Lexi Jackson
    2026/08/23
This week I sat down with Lexi Jackson and Conor Brown, the new course record holders from the Jigger Johnson 100 miler. Lexi smashed the women's course record by four and a half hours, finishing in 33:12, and Conor took first place overall in 29:41, beating the previous men's course record by over 40 minutes. We talked about how they were feeling leading up to the race, their training builds, and why they wanted to sign up for one of the toughest 100 milers in the Northeast. They both broke down their race's section by section. Everything from dealing with the trail bees on Tecumseh, battling through bad stomach issues early and often, and saving the race?/navigating an unexpected situation on Bear Notch Road where a cop almost canceled the race mid way through, the hardest section (Table, Attitash, Moats out and back), Tremont for a second time, Hancock Notch, and the last stretch to the finish where they each hammered. We talked about their awesome pacers, footwear choices, how grabbing the course records felt and Conor getting featured on Dylan Bowman's Freetrail podcast Strava File of the Week. We also heard from Lexi on and how the Jigger Johnson 100 compares to the White Mountains 100. I believe she is the only person to finish both. This episode was epic, and I'm pumped they both were excited to do it just days after their finishes.HOW TO FIND LEXI AND CONOR:https://fastestknowntime.com/athlete/lexi-jacksonhttps://ultrasignup.com/m_results_participant.aspx?fname=Lexi&lname=Jacksonhttps://www.instagram.com/conorbrwn/https://strava.app.link/jwlLR9yWZHbI've tried a lot of different trail running gear over the years and have refined my ideal kit for the mountains. • Increasing your Uphill Running Speed
    2026/08/16

This week I break down the most important aspects of increasing your uphill running speed and how to get stronger on mountain climbs. Whether you do short races, ultras, multi day hikes, or just run trails for fun, getting better going uphill will translate to every other part of your mountain running/hiking. I talk about fitness, strength, power, muscular endurance, and uphill running. I also share my favorite treadmill and mountain workouts to build the uphill running muscles. I also share thoughts on race day execution, shoe choices, and briefly give some thoughts on supplements and PEDs in the growing trail scene. To wrap up, I recap the top finishes at the Vermont 100, finally give my motivational rant on camera about the Red Sox's Mickey Gasper, and share my thoughts on the final season of Stranger Things.

I've tried a lot of different trail running gear over the years and have refined my ideal kit for the mountains. Below are some of my favorite running and hiking shoes and gear. If you have any questions, please reach out! By using the affiliate links below, I may earn a small commission if you decide to make a purchase (at no extra cost to you). I don’t drink caffeine and don’t like the caffeinated gels as much. These are cheap and effective for speed workouts, long runs and race efforts.
