  • 42. M2M athlete feature series: Ellis Grey and the road to 2:39, pt 1. Getting to know Ellis and how her got to here.
    2025/08/13

After having so much fun chatting w/ Dylan about his path to Grandma's I figured why not do the same thing w/ an M2M athlete, and here we are.

Pt 1 of Ellis Gray vs. the 2:39 marathon. We'll follow along w/ long time M2M athlete Ellis Gray. Ellis is a hardworking, focused and very committed athlete (He's also simply a great guy)

From his first Marathon- a modest 3:36, Ellis has had quite the journey- he's run many of the majors, honed his craft and worked down to 2:41, the next goal is to break the 2:40 barrier at the Victoria Marathon. Follow along as we track his progress of the build and do a deep dive into what it takes to put it out there and strive for excellence.

    Thanks for listening!

  • 41: Mauricio Díaz Arellano Curts: Runner, explorer, entrepreneur and all around lovely guy + Training chats and race recaps w/ Shanimal
    2025/07/29

This week I am super stoked to have my buddy Mau join us for a chat. Mau is a runner, adventurer, explorer and entrepreneur.

Mau is the founder of Aire Libre running and a fellow lululemon ambassador. We chat about why we run, how we experience the sport in our own way and how his sense of adventure led to him founding his company Aire Libre.

It is a great chat and I hope you enjoy it.

Afterwards Shannon and I take some time to chat training and bike races - we participated in the Oakanagan Gran Fondo - an event marred by tragedy. It was a sad day and we briefly talk about our experience there.

Thank you for tuning in, have a lovely day.

  • Ep 40. Rob Talks Cycling w/ Pete Watson: This week Rob and his brother Pete breakdown their experience at the Vermont X-Fondo, a 150mile bike race through the Green Mountains of Vermont
    2025/07/03

My brother Pete and I headed to Vermont this past weekend to take on the Vermont GranFondo-X. 240km w/ 4300m of elevation, including the steepest paved Mile in North America - The Lincoln Gap...it was gnarly, but we lived to tell the tale. Take a listen as we break down the highlights (Pacelines, big climbs and peanut butter sandwiches) and lowlights (crashes, travel shenanigans, terrifying gravel descents)...all in all it was a super fun weekend and we'll certainly be looking to do more events like this in the future.

  • 38. Paul Mackinnon: Running technique and gait retraining specialist. Rethinking our approach on gait and our ability to manipulate it to prevent injury, increase efficiency and ultimately run faster
    2025/06/11

This week I’m thrilled to welcome gait specialist Paul Mackinnon for a deep dive into the art and science of movement.

Paul shares his expertise on gait, biomechanics, and how thoughtful movement patterns help runners stay healthy, move efficiently, and ultimately run faster. We explore the importance of individual mechanics and physics in both boosting performance and preventing injury.

    In this episode, we unpack:

    • Why the “180 strides per minute” rule just doesn’t fit everyone
    • How footwear technology has evolved—and what that means for your running form
    • Tips on using a power meter to maximize your training
      …and so much more.

I walked away with fresh insights and I hope you will too. Thanks for tuning in.
