  • AH: Season One Mailbag
    2026/03/17

We decided to wrap up Season One of Red River Reformed by discussing some fantastic listener questions.

Season Two of Red River Reformed will focus on the Ten Commandments. Make sure to subscribe so that you get notified when we begin posting new episodes.

Here are the questions we discuss in this episode:

    1. What does it mean when we say God “condescends”?
    2. How does The Fall impact the dominion we are to hold over the whole earth?
    3. Does dominion over the earth mean all of creation or just this planet?
    4. In S1.E2 we discussed “subduing”. Subduing implies a struggle against an undesired state of being for that which we subdue. What state of being is being subdued? And why is this state being resisted?
    5. In S1.E3 we discussed how God didn’t “need” Creation. Human motivation is often defined by needs fulfilled and unfulfilled. How do we possibly understand the motivations of God who needs nothing?
    6. Do you think general revelation makes worship obligatory? what of the “un-elect”? Are they obliged to worship? Would not their praise be meaningless?
    7. Aside from His unbound sovereignty, is it God’s unblemished righteousness that makes Him the only being fit to judge all things? Would pre-Fall Adam have been fit to judge things?
    8. In Anglican liturgy, why are we encouraged to “boldly” say the Lord’s Prayer?
    9. In our discussions about art, beauty, and subcreation we talked a lot about beauty in our lives as Christians. What is the role of beauty in the life of the Church? Should our churches and our worship be beautiful? Why?
    10. What do we think about penal substitution?

    Doctrine of Creation: Episode Eight

On this episode we discuss the Sabbath as the culmination of the biblical creation narrative, the purpose of the Sabbath within the creation order, and the ongoing significance of the Sabbath for our life and witness as Christians and as the Church.

Here are some questions we discuss:

    • What is the Sabbath?
    • How does the Sabbath help us understand and live in time as the people of God?
    • What kinds of work can and should be done on the Sabbath? What should be avoided on the Sabbath?
    • Why is Sabbath keeping both a joy and a duty for us as the people of God?
    • What is the Sabbath meant to teach us about God's providence and our place in the world?
    • How can Sabbath reform us as Christians and strengthen our prophetic witness to the world?

This wraps up Season One of Red River Reformed. Thanks for listening! Next week we will do a mailbag question, responding to listener questions, before getting to work on Season Two where we will discuss the Ten Commandments.

If you have found these discussions interesting or helpful, please subscribe, leave a 5-star rating, and share the podcast with others who are interested in having honest conversations about God, his Word, his Church, and his world, as we work together to build up the Church in Winnipeg and beyond.

This is one of the first episodes we recorded together. We hope you have some laughs while learning something about the history of Christian theology and its theologians.
