The Ten Commandments: Episode Eleven
In the second season of Red River Reformed, we will be discussing the Ten Commandments through their original meaning, their fulfilment in the New Testament, and their ongoing application for us today. In this episode we discuss the ninth commandment.
The ninth commandment, "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbour," establishes truth as the governing principle for justice and social life in and among God's people.
We will release episodes weekly on Tuesdays. If you have questions comment or email us! (redriverreformed@gmail.com) We will do a mailbag episode at the end of the season.
Here are some questions we discuss in this episode:
- What is the immediate context for this commandment?
- Why does justice require truth and trustworthy speech?
- What are the personal and social consequences of this commandment for the people of God?
- How does Scripture expand this commandment?
- What should we do with examples of people who deceive in Scripture and find favour with God?
- How is this commandment applied in the New Testament and fulfilled in the life and ministry of Christ?
