This week on Rage on the Rocks, we’re bringing you an update on two stories that continue to generate huge public discussion — and a whole lot of online noise.

We begin with the Lindsay Clancy case, following the mistrial in her Massachusetts murder trial after the jury could not reach a unanimous decision. We talk about the difficulty of cases involving severe mental illness, criminal responsibility and postnatal psychosis; the polarised public reaction; and why the conversation matters for parents who may already feel scared or ashamed to seek mental-health support.

We then turn to Andrew and Tristan Tate: their ongoing detention in the United States while they fight extradition to the UK, the fresh Romanian indictment, their online luxury-and-dominance brand, and the deeply committed supporters doing push-ups outside a Miami jail. Because apparently that is where we are.

These are very different cases, but both raise questions about online fandom, misinformation, gender, power, loneliness, accountability and what happens when serious legal matters become content.

In this episode of Rage on the Rocks, we unpack the public conversation around the Lindsay Clancy case — a mother on trial in the US over the deaths of her three children — and the flood of certainty, armchair diagnosis and attention-seeking media coverage surrounding it.

This is not a verdict episode. We are not here to decide guilt or innocence from a podcast microphone. Instead, we talk about postnatal psychosis, the difference between perinatal anxiety/depression and a rare psychiatric emergency, the impossible expectations placed on mothers, and what happens when devastating family tragedy becomes online content.

We also ask harder questions: Who gets empathy when they are unwell? Who is assumed to be a “good mother”? Why does public discussion so quickly become a hot-take competition? And what would it look like to take maternal mental health seriously before crisis hits?

Powerful men hurt or humiliate women, and somehow there’s always another tour, another contract, another “cheeky larrikin” rebrand waiting for them. This week on Rage on the Rocks, Sarah and Lauren run a second‑chance audit on the Boys’ club loyalty program – who gets the comebacks, who pays the price, and who keeps renewing their membership.

We start with Jimmy Fallon’s cosy Tonight Show interview with Conor McGregor, recorded after an Irish civil jury found McGregor liable for sexually assaulting Nikita Hand and ordered him to pay damages – a verdict later upheld. Fallon’s laughs‑and‑family chat never mentions Nikita or the case, and that’s our entry point into a much bigger pattern: politicians whose abuse is treated as “colour”, shock jocks rewarded for vulgar misogyny, presidents and power brokers whose sexual misconduct and friendships with men like Jeffrey Epstein don’t stop the comeback train.
