This week on Rage on the Rocks, we’re bringing you an update on two stories that continue to generate huge public discussion — and a whole lot of online noise.

We begin with the Lindsay Clancy case, following the mistrial in her Massachusetts murder trial after the jury could not reach a unanimous decision. We talk about the difficulty of cases involving severe mental illness, criminal responsibility and postnatal psychosis; the polarised public reaction; and why the conversation matters for parents who may already feel scared or ashamed to seek mental-health support.

We then turn to Andrew and Tristan Tate: their ongoing detention in the United States while they fight extradition to the UK, the fresh Romanian indictment, their online luxury-and-dominance brand, and the deeply committed supporters doing push-ups outside a Miami jail. Because apparently that is where we are.

These are very different cases, but both raise questions about online fandom, misinformation, gender, power, loneliness, accountability and what happens when serious legal matters become content.
