  • When Work Challenges What You Stand For
    2026/10/29

Have you ever walked out of a meeting wondering whether someone just challenged your work or questioned who you are? Those are two very different things, friend. And knowing the difference matters.

In this episode of Leadership Sandbox, Tammy J. Bond digs into what happens when personal values collide with workplace behavior. From leaders criticizing team members behind closed doors to employees using 'I'm just speaking my truth' as cover for personal attacks, Tammy challenges us to stop making it personal and start addressing the behaviors underneath the conflict.

You'll hear why trust is so hard to rebuild, how to identify your core values, and what to do when a conversation crosses the line. Tammy shares a practical starting point: push pause, ask the next best question, and make room for honest conversations and healthy leadership development.

Because here's the question: are your values truly being compromised, or did something someone said simply hurt? You need to know what you stand for before you can advocate for it.

Take the core values assessment below to get clear on what matters most to you, and share this episode with someone navigating a difficult work environment.

  • The Trust Gap: Why Your Team Isn't Following Your Lead
    2026/10/22

The senior team leaves an off-site with a new strategy, new priorities, and a beautiful slide deck. Everyone applauds. Six weeks later, the frontline is doing exactly what it did before. What happened?

In Episode 152 of the Leadership Sandbox, Tammy J. Bond explores the connection between trust and execution. Drawing on the DDI Global Leadership Forecast for 2027, she discusses the reported trust gap between individual contributors and leaders, and why trust is not a soft culture issue. It directly affects whether decisions become action.

Tammy identifies three patterns that erode trust: the say-do gap, decision fog, and overloaded managers. Then she shares five practical actions leaders can put to work this week:

Stop passing along decisions as "corporate says." Understand the what, the why, and what it means for your team.

Run a say-do audit and close one gap between what you say matters and where your time goes.

Close the loop within 48 hours, even when the answer is that you do not know yet.

Name your misses out loud and explain what you will do differently.

Protect one hour each week for leadership growth, and protect that time for the managers you lead.

The strategy may not have failed in the boardroom. It may have failed in the gap between the decision and the people asked to carry it out. Trust is what fills that gap.

Sandbox Challenge: Pick one of the five actions and put it into practice this week. Then tell Tammy how it went.

  • You Got Promoted - Now You Get To Lead
    2026/10/19

You were great at the work. So they promoted you. Now you're responsible for people who used to be your peers, a boss who may still want everyone to be friends, and expectations nobody has bothered to define. Congratulations. The job changed.

In this episode of Leadership Sandbox™, Tammy J. Bond shares three moves to help new managers make the shift from doing the work to leading the people who do it. You'll learn what to clarify with your boss, how to reset expectations with your team, and why regular communication matters at every level.

    In this episode:
    • Ask what authority actually comes with your new role.
    • Lead a team conversation that acknowledges your history and sets a new standard.
    • Stay connected with your boss, fellow managers, and direct reports.
    • Ask for input without inheriting someone else's assumptions about your people.

Your next move: Ask your boss, "What am I authorized to decide, address, and change in this role?" Then put a team expectations conversation on the calendar.

Follow Leadership Sandbox™ and share this episode with someone who just stepped into management. Explore more leadership tools through the website linked in the episode notes.
