  • It's All in How We Interpret it: A brief discussion addressing how our perception affects our mental health.
    2026/05/19

Have you ever noticed how two people can have the same experience and have two totally different perceptions of the experience? For example, one person may look outside when it's raining and think "This is just great, might have known it would rain the day have to be outside for my job" - however, another person might say to themselves "Bummer, I guess I'll need to pack the Wellies. Oh well, the garden needs the rain...." Two different perceptions of the rain.

In this episode, I want to share a simple but powerful framework that I have noticed over several years of working with clients. We'll explore three core perceptions that shape our daily emotions, resilience, and overall well-being, these include:

    Our perception of ourselves

Our perception of the world around us

Our perception of what the world thinks of us

Come along on this journey to learn more about how our perception affects our mental health.

  • The Brain and Gut Health
    2026/02/03

Join me for a brief and somewhat technical episode examining the relationship between the brain and the gut.

The relationship between the brain and gut health is complex and bidirectional, often referred to as the "gut-brain axis."

Mental Health: There's a strong link between gut health and mental health conditions like depression, anxiety, and stress. An imbalance in gut microbiota (dysbiosis) has been associated with these disorders.

Cognitive Function: The gut can influence cognitive processes such as memory and learning through the production of neurotransmitters and the control of inflammation.

Mood and Behavior: Variations in gut bacteria have been linked to changes in behavior, including mood swings, due to the influence on neurotransmitter production.

Digestive Health: Emotional states can affect gut motility and secretions, leading to conditions like IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), where stress can exacerbate symptoms.

The brain and gut are deeply interconnected, influencing each other's health and function. This relationship underscores the importance of considering both physical and mental health in our daily lives and in medical practice.
