    Thanks for joining us for this episode of the 'Our Wellness at Work' Podcast! We are so glad that you did. In today's episode, we share an intimate and meaningful conversation with Kylie Vatthauer, MS, MPH, ACSM-EP, CPH, the Integrated Health and Safety Coordinator for Landwehr Construction, on the topic of health and safety, both mind and body, and the necessity to understand the inextricable link between both for employee wellness and workplace safety.

    Kylie Vatthauer, MS, MPH, ACSM-EP, CPH, is the Integrated Health and Safety Coordinator at Landwehr Construction Inc. where she is involved in helping the employees thrive in their roles and in life.  Kylie found her passion for the construction industry while completing her Masters of Public Health degree where her research was focused on physical pain and its effects on mental health.

    Prior to Landwehr Construction, Kylie spent 10 years in the fitness industry as an exercise physiologist and fitness trainer focusing on injury prevention and rehabilitation. 

    Kylie enjoys learning the unique qualities of every individual and helping them find and achieve their well-being goals.

    When not pouring her passion into her work, Kylie enjoys creating in the kitchen, cycling and most other forms of exercise, and is always up for an adventure!

    Today, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Ryan Pecinovsky, a Business Representative for the North Central States Regional Council of Carpenters, and a trustee.... Read more below! 


    "Ryan has been in the construction industry for 27 years.  Starting out as a residential/light commercial carpenter, he then progressed to the foreman and superintendent roles working in high end residential remodeling.  Ryan then struck out on his own becoming a general contractor specializing in remodeling and finish work.  After the market crash of 2008 and at the urging of longtime friends Ryan joined Piledrivers local 1847 in 2011.  Going from a Non-Union carpenter to becoming a union Pile Driver with benefits was a dramatic change for Ryan and his family and he quickly became very involved in his local union as a delegate and later Vice President.  After working as a foreman for a foundation contractor, he took the position  of business representative in 2016.  Ryan represents Pile Drivers and Highway Heavy Carpenters along with fulfilling roles such as trustee on the pension, health and welfare and defined contribution funds, as well as sitting on two joint apprenticeship training committees and as the mentoring lead for the council.  Ryan has sat on multiple bargaining committees to assist in contract negotiations and currently sits on a number of Highway/Heavy industry boards and committees.  In his free time he enjoys spending time with his wife, daughter and two boys. Getting on the water and out in the field as an outdoorsman, manning the grill for all types of BBQ and collecting vinyl are a few of his other hobbies."

    Cal helped catalyze the formation of the Construction Industry Alliance for Suicide Prevention in 2016.
