  • Socialist Katie Wilson Promised Affordability—Seattle Inflation Now Skyrocketing
    2026/10/20

Seattle's annual inflation rate just hit 4.4% — a full percentage point above the national city average of 3.4%, and among the worst on the entire West Coast. Energy prices are up nearly 16%, groceries are surging, and restaurants are bleeding wallets dry. But the data isn't the punch line. The punch line is that Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson built her entire campaign on affordability.

Bureau of Labor Statistics numbers are unambiguous: while San Francisco — Seattle's closest economic peer — matched the national average, Seattle pulled ahead by a full point. Economist James McCafferty of Western Washington University's Center for Economic and Business Research notes it isn't just energy driving the gap — it's food, groceries, and restaurants compounding in ways other metros simply aren't experiencing. That's what policy choices look like when they finally hit your bank account.

Mayor Wilson has been floating "progressive revenue" ideas in her latest budget, then quietly retreating — because she knows the political optics of raising taxes when residents are already getting crushed. The affordability promises from the campaign trail? On this scorecard, they're all failing. Every single one.

  • "Demonically Possessed" Kirkland Pastor Stole $13M from His Own Church
    2026/10/20

A Kirkland, Washington pastor is facing federal charges after prosecutors allege he swindled $13 million from his own church congregation in an elaborate wire fraud scheme. Cristian Popescu, 46, of Bothell — a Romanian citizen and pastor of a Kirkland congregation called Passion for Christ — was arraigned in U.S. District Court in Seattle on 10 counts of wire fraud and 5 counts of money laundering, with trial set for December 21, 2026.

According to the indictment, Popescu recruited investors from within his church using fake marketing materials, a fabricated Bellevue company called Followone Inc., and expensive offices designed to project legitimacy. When investors tried to get their money back, Popescu reportedly told them they were demonically possessed — then spent the cash on luxury goods and day trading. U.S. Attorney Charles Neil Floyd called it a betrayal "financially and faithfully."

Sean breaks down how a faith community became the target of a long-running financial con, why dozens of investors trusted a platform that never worked, and what it says about how Washington handles fraud when the perpetrator walks free awaiting trial.

  • "ICE Told No 16,000 Times" NY Shields Migrants Behind 52,000 Crimes
    2026/10/20

New York municipalities have rejected 16,000 ICE detainer requests since President Trump took office — refusing to hold migrants suspected or convicted across more than 52,000 criminal charges including homicide, kidnapping, and sexual assault. While Governor Kathy Hochul's team calls the data misleading, the Department of Homeland Security says sanctuary politicians are releasing dangerous criminals into their own communities.

DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin put it bluntly: "While sanctuary politicians continue to release dangerous criminals onto their streets, our brave law enforcement officers will continue to risk their lives." ICE detainers are civil requests — not warrants — but New York's sanctuary state designation means local jails hand migrants back to the street instead of to federal officers.

Sean breaks down what the 52,503-charge breakdown actually looks like, why Hochul's Local Cops Local Crimes Act effectively abolishes enforcement cooperation, and what the Oscar Belgal ICE shooting tells you about the stakes when these detainers go ignored.
