New York municipalities have rejected 16,000 ICE detainer requests since President Trump took office — refusing to hold migrants suspected or convicted across more than 52,000 criminal charges including homicide, kidnapping, and sexual assault. While Governor Kathy Hochul's team calls the data misleading, the Department of Homeland Security says sanctuary politicians are releasing dangerous criminals into their own communities.

DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin put it bluntly: "While sanctuary politicians continue to release dangerous criminals onto their streets, our brave law enforcement officers will continue to risk their lives." ICE detainers are civil requests — not warrants — but New York's sanctuary state designation means local jails hand migrants back to the street instead of to federal officers.

Sean breaks down what the 52,503-charge breakdown actually looks like, why Hochul's Local Cops Local Crimes Act effectively abolishes enforcement cooperation, and what the Oscar Belgal ICE shooting tells you about the stakes when these detainers go ignored.
