  • 241- Do you Invest in Your Business?
    2025/07/02

    Hello PR friends,

When was the last time you invested in your projects or your business?

As for me, I've lost count of the number of courses and coaching programs I've done over the years.

One that really stands out was with Kris Plachy --- an exceptional business coach --- who helped me go from "HR is not my strength" to "I love managing my team!"

Anyone who knows me well knows what a transformation that was --- managing people used to feel like a chore.

And yes, the program's price felt steep at the time, and I questioned the return on investment.

On top of that, it wasn't easy. Kris asked me to redefine NATA PR's core values and completely rethink every role in the agency.

I didn't want to do it. I already had a list of values and job descriptions. Everything was "done."

But going back to the foundation changed everything --- the way I lead, what I believe, and the results I get.

I'll spare you the full curriculum, but without hesitation: I would make that investment again in a heartbeat.

The financial return is still felt today.

Employee retention can be measured in dollars. My team is happier and more engaged.

This means we serve our clients better --- and they stick with us longer.

That's the kind of return on investment I'm talking about.

    Better than the stock market!

I've signed up for another business coaching program --- and I'm approaching it with a completely fresh perspective.

It's a one-year program focused on taking immediate action.

It's the kind of training that lights up my brain. I'm constantly coming up with new ideas --- things I can test right away.

The idea is simple: try something now (a new newsletter, podcast episode, offer, or updated service). If it doesn't work, analyze what went wrong, get coaching, and quickly implement an improved version.

This program reminds me a lot of the ones I offer --- 100% focused on real-world action.

If you're following my work, you're probably wondering how to increase your sales and attract more clients.

So why not invest in your sales?

I invite you to take a fresh look at what the NATA PR SCHOOL offers --- not as an expense but as a strategic investment in your business.

You want to integrate PR and influencers into your marketing plan to boost visibility and drive sales --- but you're not sure where to start?

I promise you with just one free call, I can point you in the right direction.

Your only investment today? A little of your time.

  • 240- UGC Influencers: Authenticity, 2025 Edition
    2025/06/18

    Hello PR friends,

Today, I wanted to talk to you about a trend that's absolutely exploding right now: UGC influencers, or User Generated Content --- in other words, content created by real people, not marketing pros.

And believe me, in 2025, this has become essential.

    Why?

Because both consumers and brands are tired of everything looking too polished, too perfect. What they're craving now is authenticity.

They want spontaneous videos, honest opinions, and raw customer feedback --- sometimes even a little clumsy --- but real.

And you know what? It works.

You've probably noticed that short videos on TikTok or Instagram Reels have completely taken over our feeds. And this super effective format is perfect for UGC.

Brands are using it to get their message across --- clearly, quickly... and above all, credibly.

Because it's not a traditional ad --- it's someone "just like us" talking.

    And that's just the beginning.

    Another major trend is personalization.

Thanks to UGC, brands can speak directly to micro-communities, with content that truly resonates with their expectations.

And to make all this happen, of course... there's AI.

Artificial intelligence now helps brands identify top-performing content, track trends, detect fake reviews, and even auto-translate videos to suit different markets.

This is what we call "smart syndication": a piece of UGC can live on Instagram, an e-commerce site, in a TV commercial --- literally everywhere.

And there's more: in 2025, consumers are the new brand ambassadors.

The line between influencer and customer is getting blurry. We're not just talking about Instagram stars anymore --- nano-influencers and even everyday users are becoming the new faces of brands.

And guess what? Social media has become the new search engine.

46% of Gen Z now use TikTok instead of Google to look for recommendations. That means brands need to optimize their content for those platforms --- just like they used to do for SEO.

So, if you're working in marketing, communications, or for a brand, here's the key takeaway: UGC is no longer optional. It's a full-fledged strategy.

And it's built on three pillars: authenticity, personalization, and technology.

  • 239- Press Releases & Newswires
    2025/06/04

    Hi my PR friends,

These days, everything changes so quickly that I sometimes feel like a dinosaur.

If, like me, you remember those printers in newsrooms that used to churn out press releases on paper 24/7, then you're part of my dinosaur club.

What's fascinating about being one of the "old ones" is that we remember tools that once had a physical form and have now evolved into digital versions --- all while keeping their core purpose.

A perfect example is the newswire, which still exists today but is now online only.

Every day, thousands of companies publish press releases through newswires across the world.

It's a significant resource saver --- think of all the trees and paper saved.

But what exactly is a newswire, and what are the benefits of this kind of publication?

A newswire is an online distribution platform that allows companies, organizations, and even governments to release press statements on a large scale.

These platforms are connected to databases of journalists, editors, and media outlets around the globe. In other words, with a single click, your press release can reach hundreds --- or even thousands --- of media outlets.

It's a powerful tool for any public relations strategy.

    Why?

Because it helps increase visibility for major announcements such as a product launch, fundraising news, a strategic hire, or a key partnership.

But a word of caution: just because your release is published on a newswire doesn't mean journalists will automatically pick it up.

A newswire is a distribution channel --- not a magic wand. Your release still needs to be well-written, clear, relevant... and, most importantly, offer real value to the media and their audiences.

Another benefit of using a newswire is the digital footprint it leaves.

Once published, your release is often automatically picked up by various platforms or niche websites.

It becomes a piece of content that can boost your online visibility and SEO credibility.

That said, newswires don't replace personalized media relations. They complement them.

Because nothing beats a targeted message sent directly to a journalist you know --- or one you've taken the time to research.

The two approaches --- broad distribution through the wire and direct outreach --- can and should work hand in hand.

Finally, remember that publishing on a newswire is an investment.

Depending on the platform and the length of your release, prices can range into the thousands of dollars. Therefore, it's essential to select your moments and messages carefully.

In short, a newswire is a powerful tool --- if used strategically. It doesn't replace the human touch or the instincts of a great publicist, but it can amplify your voice on a global scale.

  • 238- Public Relations: Boost Your Online Visibility
    2025/05/21

    Hello PR friends,

Do you run your own business? Do you sell products or services online?

Then we all share a common goal: increasing our online visibility.

That's great news because public relations' primary goal has always been boosting visibility.

So you can see how easily PR professionals have adapted their strategies to the online world.

We saw a surge in online visibility during the pandemic. Many stores and services closed their doors, and online sales exploded.

Our clients' visibility also soared. Major media outlets already had web platforms, and readers kept their online reading habits.

Since our expertise lies in boosting our clients' visibility, I decided to create a new, simplified, highly effective 5-step service offering at the agency.

Step 1: Analyze your online presence

    Maximize your business value.

It sounds obvious, but how many companies actually take the time to assess their work and communicate their strengths effectively online?

We offer a quick analysis and easy-to-implement tactics tailored to you.

    Step 2: Build credibility

This is where the press release becomes essential.

Only PR can help you earn your customers' trust. And the press release is PR's #1 tool---a must-have.

We'll suggest story angles that showcase your brand and distribute your press releases on the wire for you.

Step 3: Make it easier for customers to find you

SEO -- Be first in online searches.

Local SEO puts you at the top of Google Maps and search results.

We work with the best to develop an effective, customized strategy for you!

Step 4: Stay top of mind with your community

Social media lets you tell your story, engage in real time, and build customer loyalty.

We manage your presence and create high-quality content aligned with your brand values.

Step 5: Shine a spotlight on your brand and your team

Integrated advertorials to humanize your brand.

Highlight your leaders and team members as experts in trusted media outlets.

Through sponsored content and storytelling, we showcase the human side of your business.

It's a strategy that boosts your visibility and credibility on reliable platforms.

The beauty of this offer? You can choose 1, 2, 3, or all 5 steps.

After our analysis, we'll tell you when and how to implement them, and which ones to combine.

I thought it was the perfect time to check in and share where I'm at with my goals for next year.I said it loud and clear: 2025 will be my best year yet. Here's what I've set my sights on:Celebrating NATA PR's 25th anniversaryWriting not one, but two booksLaunching brand-new services25 years of NATA PRMy plan was to celebrate in Miami with my whole team.But... with the current situation between the US and Canada, those plans are on hold. That said, I still managed to go on my first exploratory trip in February with two of my senior team members.Since then, things have gotten more complicated --- visa issues, trade talk tensions... One of my colleagues, who has a Ukrainian passport, got denied. So, the Miami celebration is postponed, but we're not giving up! We'll plan something here in Canada instead. Stay tuned. The two booksThe first book, about public relations, is moving forward --- I already have a plan and an introduction written. You might remember the title: No One Is Waiting for Your Press Release. The second book is a personal one --- it's about my mother. At almost 65, she made the bold decision to leave my father.I'm recording our conversations, letting her tell the story in her own words.I'm really curious to see where this project leads us.What's new at NATA PRI'm also revisiting my goals for the agency. But the most exciting news? The global economy is shaken. U.S. tariff announcements and the unpredictable decisions of some leaders are creating widespread uncertainty. And if, like me, you sometimes see your revenue stagnate—or melt away like snow in the sun—what should you do?Here are two essential reflexes to adopt: 1 – Stay visible 2 – Leverage local synergyStay visible (take a cue from those who dominate the media!) If the pandemic taught us one thing, it’s that all those who stayed the course with their marketing and public relations—or even doubled down on their efforts and investments—saw their sales increase. It may seem counterintuitive—I get it. In hard times, the instinct is to cut. But cutting visibility means handing over the spotlight to your competitors. Are your competitors out there while you disappear? No, thank you. Remember: out of sight, out of mind.Bet on local Here’s a little secret: some of our clients who position themselves as local brands are currently seeing sales increases of 10 to 20%. Why? Because more and more consumers want to support local businesses. And often, they don’t even realize you’re one of them! That’s where a strong PR campaign becomes powerful. • 235- What is a press release?
    2025/04/09

Welcome to a new episode of our series on THE PRESS RELEASE.

Many believe that writing a good press release is complicated.

However, after more than 30 years of experience, I can assure you that the simplest ones are the most effective.

A press release is simply a tool designed to make the work of journalists, columnists, and influencers easier.

The press release remains the number one tool in public relations.

It’s the foundation they use to talk about you and your products.

    However, achieving simplicity requires expertise.

A press release is not a literary work—it must be direct and capture attention.

With rapidly evolving artificial intelligence tools, writing a press release is easier than ever.

However, you still need to assess whether the result is effective.

If you rely solely on AI without understanding what makes a good press release, your message might miss its mark.

At NATA PR SCHOOL, we teach you how to write impactful press releases that sell.

We also use AI, but with a critical eye: we review, refine, and improve every text.

The key is choosing the right words—the ones that truly represent you and leave a lasting impression.

Writing a press release is an excellent exercise in clarifying your message.

We are all fascinated by AI, and many of our clients are exploring how to use these new tools, dreaming that they might replace many employees.

But I am convinced that those who will not be replaced are those who possess knowledge.

    Keep learning, and stay curious.

To discover public relations at your own pace and schedule, I invite you to check out our express training: PR 101—a 30-minute workshop for $19.95.

Public relations aren’t going away; understanding them better will give you a competitive edge.

I started my career as a marketing professional and developed a passion for public relations through experiences where I didn’t always have the budget to hire an expert or an agency.

Stay curious, check out our PR 101 training, and let me know what you think!

  • 234- No One Is Waiting for Your Press Release
    2025/03/26

Welcome to the first episode of our series on THE PRESS RELEASE.

In this episode, we're tackling a crucial topic: "No one is waiting for your press release."

Unless you're a celebrity, journalists aren't sitting in front of their inboxes eagerly awaiting your latest press release.

However, this doesn't mean your press release is useless. On the contrary, it's a powerful tool to define and control the message you want to convey to the public and the media.

The "forgotten press release" syndrome is all too common.

Why do so many press releases end up ignored in journalists' inboxes?

Poor targeting often means the message doesn't reach the right people at the right time.

Irrelevant information dilutes the impact of your story.

And bad timing can cause your press release to be buried under a flood of other news.

For us, a press release is, first and foremost, a tool that helps define what the client really wants to communicate.

We often reshape their entire perception of what an effective press release is.

A press release is not the place to tell your company's whole story—it's about:

    1. Defining the news

    2. Finding the simplest and most compelling headline

    3. Selecting the most relevant information and cutting the unnecessary details

For a press release to be useful to journalists, it must be clear, concise, and relevant.

Make sure it answers the essential questions: who, what, where, when, why, and how.

To grab their attention, offer an interesting angle, key figures, statistics, and strong quotes.

A good press release gets straight to the point: avoid jargon, use direct language, and highlight the key message in the opening lines.

Including accessible contact information and additional assets (prioritizing photos) can also make a big difference.

A well-crafted press release is much more likely to be picked up and turned into an article.

Remember: a press release is a tool that makes journalists' jobs easier if they choose to cover your story.

Maybe “"No one is waiting for your press release," but it still, event today, an essential tool!

Any questions? Contact me at nata@natapr.com.
