This show is for drug addicts in recovery BY a heroin addict in recovery. Living with active addiction is hell and getting sober is an incredible accomplishment. However, it doesn’t end there; we must then maintain our sobriety and assimilate into society as normal, functioning, productive people…all while living sober dealing with triggers and cravings. Of course, addiction recovery does get easier, especially with a community of support. We can only go up from here, sobriety is an opportunity to shine and have an amazing, sober life, so let’s do it!

  • The Mirror That Is A Drug Test | Being Someone’s Project

    In this episode of My Sober Addiction, I am flying solo after two episodes with Clive cohosting and one with Dominic joining us. I recently read a post on Reddit (don’t judge me) and it definitely struck a nerve. It was about an addict in recovery who is doing very well and was being assisted by a cousin who allowed him to move in with him. That is, until recently when the cousin accused the poster of relapse and wouldn’t accept a drug test as proof and asked the poster to move out. It gets worse and i get into those details in this episode.

    Further, a drug test is like a mirror to us addicts, whether in active addiction or in recovery. In active addiction, it. Is. Our worst enemy and forces us to face our addiction. In recovery, though, it is like a badge of honor.

  • Fasting For Change | Cohost Clive Wilson with Special Guest Dominic

    In this episode of My Sober Addiction, Clive is back as cohost and we take it up yet another notch by having our friend, Dominic, join the discussion. Clive and Dom have been friends for quite some time so the conversation is very natural. Dom is much more experienced with fasting and is a fantastic resource for learning to fast and do it the right way. There are lots of reasons to fast such as health and spirituality but Dom’s story of how he discovered it is fascinating and inspiring. The three of us went for a 72 hour fast. I, Matt, made it to 36 hours while Clive made it to the 72 hours mark and Dom got all the way to 84 hours, which is exactly half a week. Impressive…and inspiring!

    in this episode of My Sober Addiction, Clive Wilson of the Breaking My. Addictions and QRious Threads podcasts is my cohost. I say this because we are going for something a bit different than the usual host/guest interview format. Our conversations seem to flow naturally and Clive is a formidable host on his own, so why not try this out?

    We go beyond the usual talk of addiction and sober living and into more of what motivates us to continue pressing forward. The world can be a dark place so, now more than ever, we need to shine our lights. Where does all this fit in with addiction and recovery?
