    2026/10/13

Why Men Don’t Go to Therapy?

Why is it so hard for some men to say, “I need help”?

In Episode 4 of Man to Man Podcast by The Andrew Zone, we’re having an honest conversation about one of the biggest barriers facing men today: therapy.

Why do so many men avoid therapy?

Why do we convince ourselves that we can handle everything on our own? Is asking for help seen as weakness?

And where did we learn that we’re supposed to keep our emotions bottled up?

We’re talking about the stigma surrounding men and mental health, the pressure to always be strong, the fear of being vulnerable, and the idea that talking about your feelings somehow makes you less of a man.

Because sometimes being strong doesn't mean handling everything alone.

Sometimes strength means having the courage to say, “I’m not okay.”

This episode explores:🔹 Why men often avoid therapy🔹 The stigma around men and mental health🔹 Why asking for help can feel like weakness🔹 The pressure men feel to always be strong🔹 Why vulnerability can be uncomfortable🔹 How childhood and society shape the way men handle emotions🔹 The difference between weakness and vulnerability🔹 Why talking to someone can actually be a sign of strength🔹 How we can change the conversation around men's mental health

THERAPY? NO THANKS! Maybe the real question isn't whether men need therapy.

Maybe it's whether we've been taught that we shouldn't need anyone at all.

This is Man to Man. No judgment. No pretending.

Just real conversations about what it means to be a man.

  • Episode 003 - Why Men Need To Talk? - Man to Man by The Andrew Zone
    2026/10/06

In this third episode of Man to Man, Andrew moves beyond introducing the podcast and dives into an important topic: why men need to talk openly about their struggles and emotions.

Andrew begins by thanking listeners for following the podcast and explains that his goal is to create a space where men can challenge each other, learn from one another, and grow. He emphasizes the idea that "iron sharpens iron" and that helping others ultimately helps everyone rise together.

The central question of the episode is simple: Why do men find it so difficult to talk about what they're going through?

He describes the common "I'm fine" response many men give when asked how they're doing, even when they are carrying heavy burdens such as:

    • Stress
    • Marriage difficulties
    • Parenting challenges
    • Financial worries
    • Work pressures
    • Loneliness
    • Emotional struggles
    • Regret over past mistakes

Andrew argues that many men have been conditioned to be providers, protectors, and problem-solvers. While there is honor in those roles, it often leaves men feeling as though they must handle everything on their own. He asks an important question:

"If everybody depends on you, who do you depend on?"

Throughout the episode, Andrew reflects on how men can easily spend hours discussing sports, business, or hobbies, yet struggle to spend even a few minutes discussing fear, loneliness, or personal challenges. He suggests that the issue isn't a lack of emotions but rather that many men were never taught how to express difficult emotions in healthy ways.

A major theme is the importance of trusted friendships and support systems. Andrew encourages men to find people they can genuinely confide in and stresses that vulnerability is not weakness. Asking for help is a sign of strength, not failure.

He also makes a distinction between:

    • Talking and seeking support, which is healthy.
    • Complaining or sharing with everyone, which is different.

According to Andrew, not everyone deserves access to your personal struggles, so discernment is important when choosing whom to trust.

Another key theme is encouragement. He urges listeners to intentionally build others up because many people rarely receive genuine words of affirmation. A simple message, compliment, or acknowledgment can have a powerful impact on someone's day.

Looking ahead, Andrew outlines his vision for the podcast:

    • Honest conversations about manhood
    • Learning from men of different generations
    • Hearing stories from fathers, husbands, entrepreneurs, tradespeople, athletes, first responders, and everyday men
    • Exploring topics such as:

He explains that he wants real conversations with real people, not just famous guests, because every person has experiences and wisdom worth sharing.

Andrew ends the episode with a challenge:

Reach out to one man you haven't spoken to in a while and ask, "How are you really doing?"

Instead of sending a generic text or emoji, he encourages listeners to initiate a meaningful conversation and genuinely listen to the response.

The core message of the episode is that men do not have to carry life's burdens alone. There is strength in vulnerability, strength in asking for help, and strength in honest conversation. Andrew hopes to build a community where men can support one another, share their experiences, and realize that they are not alone in their struggles. He closes by encouraging listeners to take care of themselves, take care of others, and never be afraid to have the conversation.

  • Episode 002 - What Does It Mean To Be A Man? - Man to Man by The Andrew Zone
    2026/09/29

This episode, Andrew explores the question: "What does it mean to be a man?" He argues that there is no single answer because every man is shaped by different experiences, values, family influences, and life lessons. Rather than focusing on society's expectations, he encourages listeners to think deeply about their own definitions of manhood.

A central theme is the difference between toughness and strength. Andrew suggests that toughness often means hiding pain, while true strength means acknowledging pain, fear, or uncertainty and continuing forward despite it. He believes real strength includes humility, honesty, and the willingness to say things like, "I was wrong," "I need help," or "I'm scared."

The discussion then shifts to the idea of providing and protecting. While many men see their role as providers, Andrew argues that providing goes far beyond earning money. Men can provide security, encouragement, stability, time, wisdom, and positive examples through their actions and character. Sometimes a person's presence is more valuable than anything they can buy.

Andrew challenges listeners to reflect not on their accomplishments or income, but on their character. He asks:

    • What kind of man am I?
    • What kind of man am I becoming?

He emphasizes that life is a continuous process of growth and self-improvement rather than reaching a final destination.

Another major focus is character when no one is watching. Andrew believes character is revealed through everyday choices, such as:

    • How you treat people who cannot benefit you.
    • How you act when you're tired, angry, or frustrated.
    • What you do when nobody would ever know.

He argues that character is not the image we present publicly but the person we are in private.

The episode also addresses vulnerability, which Andrew sees not as weakness but as courage. He believes every man needs trusted people with whom he can be completely honest and remove the emotional "armor" he wears. Constantly feeling the need to be strong can be exhausting, and vulnerability allows for authentic growth and connection.

Andrew acknowledges that all men will make mistakes and fail at times. The measure of a man is not whether he makes mistakes but how he responds afterward. He encourages taking responsibility, apologizing when necessary, learning from errors, and continuing to grow.

He defines being a good man through qualities such as:

    • Responsibility
    • Integrity
    • Compassion
    • Courage
    • Personal growth
    • Self-awareness

He also stresses the importance of self-care, admitting that he personally struggles with it. He explains that men often focus on caring for others while neglecting themselves, but maintaining physical, emotional, and mental health is essential if they want to effectively support others.

Toward the end of the episode, Andrew outlines the purpose of the podcast. He wants it to be a place where men can learn, grow, and have honest conversations. Inspired by the biblical verse, "As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another," he believes men need positive influences and supportive relationships to become better versions of themselves.

He also discusses his own journey through divorce, therapy, self-reflection, and remarriage. These experiences taught him the importance of personal accountability and growth. He rejects the style of some men's podcasts that criticize or mock women, emphasizing instead that healthy relationships require mutual respect. Men and women have different strengths, and those differences should complement rather than divide them.

The episode closes with a challenge for listeners:

    1. What kind of man am I today?
    2. What kind of man do I want to become?
    3. What is one thing I can change this week to move toward that person?
