Exploring Mindfulness & Mind Health for Healing & Recovery with Rachel Jones-Wild
    Episode 27

In this Love Fools episode, I am exploring the idea of mindfulness and meditation as a tool for wellness and recovery. Expert Rachel Jones-Wild explains mindfulness and how we can apply it in our lives and demonstrates ways to be more mindful of ourselves and our relationships so we can enjoy more of life.

    We chat about:
    • How we can apply mindfulness techniques and attitudes in our day-to-day life.
    • How mindfulness can help us cultivate more self-love and compassion for others.
    • How we can use mindfulness to heal, forgive and move on from harmful events to enjoy our life more as we cultivate peace.

Rachel Jones-Wild is a psychotherapist, clinical supervisor, and mindfulness practitioner with over 20 years of mindfulness experience.
As the clinical lead of Mindful Therapies Counselling Service in Newcastle upon Tyne, she has been training therapists, coaches, and other helping professionals in mindfulness since 2015.

Rachel’s journey into mindfulness began as a teenager, leading her to explore meditation and Buddhist teachings, and later integrating mindfulness into therapy. After qualifying as a therapeutic counsellor and clinical supervisor, she founded Mindful Therapies, an organisation dedicated to making mindfulness and therapy accessible to all, regardless of income.

With a deep passion for supporting practitioners, Rachel teaches mindfulness in a way that is practical, grounded, and free from dogma. She helps professionals overcome imposter syndrome, build confidence in their client work, and develop mindfulness-based skills that enhance both personal resilience and therapeutic effectiveness.

Rachel also hosts The Cynic’s Guide to Hippy Sh*t, a podcast that takes a curious yet sceptical look at alternative therapies, exploring what works, what doesn’t, and how we can engage with these practices more wholeheartedly.

  • Manipulation in Relationships with Rie Pearson - Love Fools Episode 25
    2025/01/18
In this Love Fools episode, we discuss manipulation and abuse in relationships with Rie Pearson from Be Kind, No Excuses C.I.C.

    We chat about:
    • Early signs of manipulation in relationships that can lead to abuse. Learn how to identify these patterns.
    • Understand why we might not notice or we might be more prone to accepting unhealthy relationship dynamics.
    • Discover the importance of trusting our intuition and learning how to trust ourselves to avoid manipulative, abusive or controlling situations.

During the chat we talk about red flag behaviours and early manipulative signs that can lead to abuse in relationships. We talk about how growing up in chaotic family patterns can cause us to be blind to abuse dynamics in relationships and how we can free ourselves from ideas that keep us trapped in unhealthy relationships.

Rie Pearson is from North Tyneside. She lives overlooking the sea and describes herself as Being on the Edge! Rie is happily married and has three adult children.

Rie's career background is in policing. She was a police officer for 27 years and retired on her 50th birthday due to ill health. She specialised in Domestic Violence and Safeguarding, working strategically for many years.

Focused on abuse prevention, her Mission is to flip the discussions on violence against women and girls and talk about the real problem – the majority of abuse being perpetrated by men who are violent towards others and the failure of our justice systems to effectively protect victims and prevent this from happening.

Rie's book, "Be Kind. No Excuses" is a guide for teenagers and parents to raise awareness of the red-flag behaviours that are a precursor to abuse in intimate relationships.

Please find out more about Rie or access her products and services at www.riepearson.com

Love School recommends our Freedom from Illusion Course if you are interested in learning how manipulation and abuse have controlled your life.
This will help you recognise the power dynamics present in manipulative situations, build confidence in your ability to address them, and free your mind from the illusions of control others may have over you.
