  • Pinehurst, a Full House for the Fourth, and Training My Social Media Al
    2026/07/02

In this episode, I’m catching you up on a little bit of everything happening lately.

First, I’m recapping my girls golf trip to Pinehurst, North Carolina. I’m sharing what the trip was like, what stood out, and why Pinehurst is such a fun destination for a golf getaway with friends. If you want more of the details, I’ll link my full Pinehurst blog post here: https://www.jilllewisliving.com/blog

I’m also talking about our Fourth of July weekend because for the first time ever, all three of our kids are coming home at the same time WITH their significant others. It feels like such a fun and full-circle moment in this season of life, and I’m sharing a little of what that’s like as a mom when your house fills back up in a very different way than it used to.

And then I’m diving into something that’s been on my mind lately: social media stress. I’m talking about how social media can quietly start creating anxiety and mental clutter if we’re not careful, and how I’ve been trying to be more intentional about what I consume. I’m sharing how I’m “training my algorithm” to give me more of what inspires me, makes me laugh, teaches me something, or simply makes me feel better — and less of what leaves me feeling drained, irritated, or not enough.

As always, thank you for being here! If you enjoy this show I would so appreciate you giving it a rating and a short review!

  • Who Are You When You're No Longer Needed Every Day?
    2026/06/17

Who Are You When You're No Longer Needed Every Day?

Lately, I've been thinking about something that I don't hear discussed very often.

For years, my life revolved around being needed. My kids needed rides, help, advice, support, and a million other things. My days were full, my schedule was packed, and there was rarely a quiet moment to myself.

Then, little by little, things changed.

The kids grew up. The house got quieter. The calendar looked different. And I found myself with something I hadn't had much of in decades: space.

In this episode, I'm talking about a side of midlife that I think many of us experience but don't always talk about. What happens when you're no longer needed in the same way you once were? Why can having more freedom feel both wonderful and uncomfortable at the same time? And how do we begin to create a meaningful next chapter when so much of our identity has been wrapped up in taking care of other people?

This is a conversation about empty nest life, retirement, identity, purpose, and learning to embrace a season that offers more freedom and more possibilities than ever before.

    In this episode, I share:

    • Why having more time and freedom can sometimes feel surprisingly uncomfortable

    • The connection between being needed and how we see ourselves

    • Why it's possible to love this season of life and still miss parts of the past

    • My thoughts on retirement, empty nest life, and navigating major transitions

    • Why I think we should be careful about rushing to fill every open space on our calendars

    • The importance of leaving room to think, reflect, and discover what we truly want

    • How podcasts, social media, and constant busyness can sometimes keep us from hearing our own thoughts

    • The opportunities that can emerge when we stop filling every quiet moment

    • Why I believe an empty nest doesn't have to mean an empty life

I don't have all the answers, but I do know this: many of us spent years preparing financially for this stage of life, but very few of us prepared emotionally for it.

If you've ever found yourself wondering what comes next, I think you'll relate to this conversation.

  • 30 Years Later: Reunion Stories, Friendship, and a Reminder for All of Us
    2026/06/10

This week I'm taking you along for a trip back to South Bend for my 30th college class reunion.

I share why I decided to drive instead of rolling the dice on Contour Airlines again, what the reunion weekend was like, the events we attended, and what it felt like reconnecting with friends I’ve known for decades. There is something special about being with people who knew you before careers, marriages, and raising kids.

I also talk about a frightening story involving one of my friends whose car was stolen at a gas station this weekend. It serves as an important reminder that no matter where we live or how safe we think we are, it's worth taking a few simple precautions to protect ourselves.

And because I can't resist sharing recommendations, I wrap up the episode with a few things I've been enjoying lately, including what I've been watching, listening to, and recommending.

  • Clean Comedy, Coastal Fashion & Solo Golf: My Honest Recommendations This Week
    2026/06/03

This week I'm sharing everything I've been into lately and it's a good one. I talk about why playing 18 holes of golf solo (with a great playlist) might be my new favorite hobby, and then I get into a full recommendations roundup: Dusty Slay's Working Man stand-up special on YouTube, the Netflix show Remarkably Bright Creatures starring Sally Field, and Nate Bargatze's new movie The Breadwinner from his Nateland production company.

I also talk about where I actually shop, not fast fashion, not Amazon dupes. My recent haul was from Evereve and Marea, and I'm giving a shoutout to Liz Joy, the influencer-turned-founder behind Marea's beautiful coastal apparel line.

Then we get into pickleball, our couples golf tournament recap, and the very entertaining reality of playing at night in a small town. Plus I'm gearing up for my college reunion: fresh hair, Dysport, maybe a little lip filler. No apologies.

  • Books, Pickleball, GLP-1s & Other Midlife Thoughts
    2026/05/27

In this episode of Live Your Best Midlife, I’m sharing a little bit of everything that’s been on my mind lately, from books and TV shows worth your time to sourdough experiments, gardening, strength training, aging, travel, and getting outside your comfort zone in midlife.

I’m talking about recent reads including The Correspondent, Theo of Golden, and Culpability, along with shows I’ve been watching like A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, Partners, and Shrinking starring Harrison Ford.

I also dive into a bigger conversation about aging, muscle loss, nursing homes, GLP-1 medications, and why I believe strength training is about far more than aesthetics. We talk about why women make up the majority of nursing home residents, how muscle impacts independence as we age, and why I worry we could be heading toward a future epidemic of frailty if we focus only on getting smaller instead of getting stronger.

    I’m also sharing:

    • my latest sourdough adventures (including a few imperfect loaves)
    • what’s growing in my garden right now
    • non-toxic pest control for vegetables
    • why I took my own advice and met a friend for lunch
    • nerves about playing in a couples golf tournament
    • and why I genuinely admire the way Gen Z approaches travel, experiences, and uncertainty differently than many of us in Gen X did.

Grab my favorite protein powder: https://www.equipfoods.com/jill and use code JILL for 15% off your first order! Tastes like dessert, easy on digestion and gives you 20 grams of protein per serving.

  • Why You Don’t Feel Like Yourself in Midlife
    2026/05/20

For this week’s episode, we’re having a conversation that I think so many women need right now.

Have you found yourself feeling more anxious, overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, irritable, or just… off lately? Maybe you don’t quite feel like yourself anymore and you can’t put your finger on why.

First, let me say this clearly: I am not a doctor, and this episode is not medical advice. I’m also not anti-medication. Medication, therapy, and professional support can absolutely be life-changing and necessary.

But after coaching midlife women for years, I’ve noticed something. I don’t think many women are broken. I think many are depleted.

In this episode, I’m sharing why modern life may be affecting your nervous system more than you realize, how hormone changes can impact mood in midlife, and why some of the simple things I talk about all the time like strength training, whole foods, movement, hobbies, getting outside, and community may matter far more than we think.

    We’re also talking about:

    • Why midlife anxiety and emotional changes can feel so different• Hormones, sleep, stress, and why you may not feel like yourself• Blood sugar, protein, alcohol, and mental health• Why strength training impacts more than your body• The connection between loneliness and emotional wellness• Questions to ask at your next doctor appointment if you’re struggling• Practical “start here” steps if you’ve been feeling mentally off

    And maybe the biggest takeaway:

Maybe midlife isn’t the season where you’re falling apart.

Maybe it’s the season where you finally realize you deserve care too.

If this pep talk resonates with you, share it with a friend or post it on Instagram and tag me. I’d love to hear your thoughts.

    2026/05/13

If you’ve ever sat in an airport questioning every decision you’ve ever made… this episode is for you.

In the span of two weeks, I dealt with weather delays, missed connections, exhaustion, a cross-country sprint to my niece’s First Communion… and then my final flight home out of Chicago was delayed because they found mouse poop on the plane.

    Yes. Mouse poop.

I spent Mother’s Day in O’Hare Airport questioning my life choices. 😂

  • The Flights Were a Disaster... But Croatia & Montenegro Were Incredible
    2026/05/06

In this episode of Live Your Best Midlife, I’m sharing the full recap of our trip to Croatia and Montenegro so far, including the travel nightmare that almost derailed the entire vacation before it even started. From weather delays and missed connections to unexpected reroutes, getting there was not easy. But once we arrived, these two countries completely exceeded my expectations.

I’m talking about what surprised me most about Croatia and Montenegro, why the Adriatic coastline feels so different from other European destinations, and the fascinating history that gave me a whole new appreciation for the region. I share the simple backstory of Yugoslavia, how these countries have rebuilt since the wars of the 1990s, and why tourism is exploding there right now.

I also share some of my favorite moments from the trip, including the beauty of Dubrovnik, the ancient history of Split, the rugged charm of Montenegro, the dramatic mountain scenery around Kotor, and why this part of the world feels layered with history, resilience, and culture.

If you’ve ever wondered whether Croatia and Montenegro are worth visiting, or if you love hearing real travel stories that include both the highlights and the chaos, this episode is for you.
