  • Finding My Voice
    2024/12/17

This episode is a little different. It’s been about a year in the making because I wasn’t exactly sure I wanted to record it at all. I’m just sharing a bit of my own story and my struggle with Imposter Syndrome. Because much of this episode is me just talking to you, the listener, I was quite hesitant to share. This wasn’t a planned conversation with a guest like my usual format, although I do share a bit of the conversation I had with LaNia the Artist when we recorded our episode together. This was me just trying to be as open as possible about a problem that is not unique to me. I’m slowly understanding what this podcast is and where it’s going. I want this to be a space where people openly share their stories, and I need to boldly share mine as well. This is a short episode, but I believe you’ll get a little more insight into your host, Robyn Alece Gibson, or RAG if you feel so inclined.

  • 20 Years of Friendship
    2024/11/26

This podcast is still very much trying to find its way, but one thing that I think it highlights rather well is the importance of connection and friendship. In this episode my best friend, Ciera Lewis, and I are celebrating 20 years of friendship. This is especially significant to me because I realize that not everyone has people in their lives that stick around for that long to support them in their dreams, cheer for them in their triumphs, and comfort them in their hard times. I’m very blessed to have that and to know that I’m that person for someone else. Thanks for being my best friend Behfran!! Join us as we reminisce, joke, and talk about important life changes and self care. Celebrate your friends and let them know how much you appreciate them!

  • Reflection in a Sacred Space
    2024/11/12

We all need spaces where we can get quiet, reflect, recharge, pray, and allow ourselves to put down the chaotic baggage we carry from day to day. These are spaces where we can be vulnerable enough to admit when we’re lost, tired, weak, confused, or just need a break. These spaces are sacred because of the power they hold for our healing and a reverence for that which is greater than ourselves. I had the awesome privilege of joining my good friend Ramona Dallum in her reflective space to record this episode. We spoke about different stages in our lives, what growth looks like and means to us, the importance of allowing ourselves to be who we are authentically, and some of the lessons we’ve learned so far on our journeys through life. I’m excited to share this episode! Grab a snack (we sure did) and settle in for this sixth episode of Life is Weird. I invite you to reflect on your own journey and what brought you here thus far.

  • A God Ordained Friendship
    2024/10/29

So, I’ve been a Christian pretty much all of my life, and during my time on this Earth I’ve seen God work in some amazing ways that still blow my mind if I’m being honest. The way God has placed certain people in my life has been kind of remarkable to witness. I love a good origin story, and the way I began my friendship with LaNia is truly one for the books, if I do say so myself. In this episode of Life is Weird, I sit down with Louisville Artist and shining star, LaNia The Artist (formerly LaNia Roberts) as we discuss our faith, friendship, and future selves. There were plenty of laughs in this episode as well as much reflection, and I invite you to do both with us as you listen in! No matter your faith or spiritual journey please feel free to commune with us. You are welcome here.

I encourage you to follow LaNia on Instagram @laniatheartist!

  • Excellence at Art Basel
    2024/10/15

We all have goals and sometimes we fall short of meeting those goals. Having someone to encourage you and hold you accountable can help you reach a level of accomplishment that sometimes feels out of reach on your own. That’s why I’m so happy to call Kaysara Facen my good friend. She is not only someone I can be myself around, but she is amazing at holding me accountable. We’re so similar in so many ways that our differences only make our friendship stronger. We’re both awkward and, dare I say, a bit weird, but we’re also both ambitious and pretty serious about going after what we’re passionate about. In this episode we ponder what it means to achieve excellence, and what it takes to get there. We also joke around because we just can’t help ourselves. Kaysara has the financial mind, and I make pretty stuff. Together we get into all kinds of hijinks, like that time I lost my shoe in the Publix parking lot, but that’s another story for another day! I hope you will laugh with us as you listen, and that this conversation sparks some curiosity within you to think of your own goals and not only how you've gotten to where you are today, but where you wish to go.

  • A Practice of Patience
    2024/09/17

I’m back with my good friend Se’Majj Burage! It’s kind of like part two, but some time has passed and we needed to catch up. In this episode we connect again about life, fatherhood, and patience. It’s not always easy to practice the art of patience. Slowing down can often feel like you’re wasting time. But in a world that constantly tells you that everything must be instant, sometimes it’s good to see the bigger picture and set off at your own pace. We all get where we’re going eventually. Why not learn a few things along the way and enjoy the journey? We're recording this episode in the podcast studio Se'Majj built himself in his gym! I hope you will laugh with us as you listen, and that this conversation sparks some curiosity within you to think of your own journey and how you've gotten to where you are.

  • Return of the RAG
    2024/09/03

There have been many life changes these past few years, and one that I'm still adjusting to is my return home from New York City to Louisville, KY. As I make my way back home, I also make my way back to the world of podcasting with my first guest, and dear friend, Se'Majj Burage. As a father, partner, son, brother, personal trainer, business owner, and friend among other things, Se'Majj wears many hats. In this first episode of Life is Weird, we talk about many random topics as we tend to do when we get together, but what most stands out to me about our conversation is our ideas on personal growth and change. We're recording this episode in the podcast studio Se'Majj built himself in his gym! I hope you will laugh with us as you listen, and that this conversation sparks some curiosity within you to think of your own journey and how you've gotten to where you are.
