Is It ADHD or Anxiety? is a podcast built from Book 4 of the Tell Them Apart series , a set of eight books that help neurodivergent adults separate experiences that feel identical but call for completely different handling. This show takes on the most commonly confused pairing of the set: ADHD and anxiety.

Episode by episode, we work through a practical method for reading your own experience as it happens: the calm-mind test, how to read your restlessness, sorting two kinds of racing thoughts, telling an executive wall from a fear wall, and a three-question real-time decoder you can run in about thirty seconds. Later episodes cover what to do when it's both, why your anxiety tools keep backfiring, medication and sequencing conversations, getting an assessment that sees both engines, and building a life that serves the brain you actually have.

    The four-minute email that's

sat unanswered for nine days: that wall isn't one thing, it's two. In Chapter 5 we

separate the executive wall ("I want to but I can't" - the ADHD start signal that

won't fire) from the fear wall ("I could but I dread it" - anxious avoidance), and

give you the one question to ask in front of any wall. It was never laziness.

This is the Tell Them Apart book series - Book 4 of 8. It's 2 a.m. and your mind

won't stop - but there are two completely different kinds of racing mind. In

Chapter 4 we teach the shape test (ADHD thoughts SKIP and branch outward; anxious

thoughts CIRCLE the same fear) and the content test (interesting ideas versus

threats). Learn to run both on your own last sleepless night and finally know which

engine is keeping you up. Educational only - not medical advice or diagnosis. AI

  • Telling ADHD and Anxiety Restlessness Apart
    2026/08/02

    Restlessness is the hardest

symptom to read, because both engines produce a can't-sit-still buzz - and they

need opposite responses. In Chapter 3 we separate stimulation-seeking restlessness

(an ADHD body hunting for input, energy pointing outward) from threat-driven arousal

(an anxious body braced to escape), using where you feel it, which way the energy

points, and what happens when you move. If you've never been able to tell, you're

not bad at reading yourself - this is the blurriest symptom there is. Educational

only - not medical advice or diagnosis. AI tools were used in the production of this

podcast. Get the complete book here: https://amzn.to/45A4Smy
