Have you ever been doing everything you can to follow God, yet life still feels dark? In 1 Nephi 8:5–8, Lehi follows a heavenly messenger—and unexpectedly finds himself in a dark and dreary wilderness for many hours. He wasn't there because he had abandoned God. He encountered darkness while following the path before him. Lehi's experience teaches us an important truth: God's silence is not the same as God's absence. Sometimes answers take longer than we hoped. Sometimes the path isn't clear. Sometimes faithful disciples walk through seasons of uncertainty, sorrow, and waiting. But darkness does not mean the Lord has lost sight of us. Like Lehi, we can continue praying and trusting in God's tender mercies even before we see the light. Have you ever felt like a mistake, conflict, or painful experience brought your spiritual journey to a standstill?
