After I received the news of Charlie Kirk's assassination, I felt moved to record this episode. Charlie Kirk has been a bold voice for Christian values, educational freedom, school choice, and the homeschooling movement. In honor of Charlie Kirk, I wanted to share his views on homeschool. Podcast Transcription "Charlie Kirk was assassinated today. Over the past few years, I have watched countless videos of his debates that he never lost. I loved him for his bold, unapologetic defending of the truth, freedom, faith, and family. He gave his life to spread the truth and the gospel. He educated countless Americans and he helped them come to see through the lies and the corruption in our society. This tragedy hits home a little deeper because it happened at a place that I'm very familiar with. Years ago, before we had kids, I taught as an adjunct professor at that very university for several years. I spent time in that courtyard. That was years ago, and the university has changed since then, and I have moved to another state. But I shudder to think that if we still lived close by there, I likely would have attended that event in person. This is devastating. I felt compelled to get on here and share this today because Charlie Kirk was an advocate for homeschool. I want to share a couple of his clips on what he said on homeschool. The first one is from his Charlie Kirk YouTube channel. I'll post the link in the show notes. Charlie Kirk Show Video Transcriptions: Charlie Kirk's Opinion on Homeschool Link Young Woman: "I just wanted to ask you, what do you say to those that are against homeschooling?" Charlie Kirk: "Well, they can apply for a job from you in 10 years from now. That's awesome. You're going to be: More politeSmarterWiserHappierMore directionMore purposeLess corruptedMore understandingMore battle-readyBetter preparedLess confusedMore biblicalMore groundedMore Christ-like Homeschool your kids. If you can, homeschool your kids. If they're scorning you or they're saying bad things to you, blessed are you who are persecuted in my name, it says, James 1:15 (correction Matthew 5:10-12.) So I'm a big fan of homeschooling. By the way, it used to be, oh, the homeschool kids were quote-unquote weird. No, no, no. The homeschool kids are wise. The homeschool kids, they're going to be the ones that are going to be running society. My money's on the homeschool kids more so than anybody else." (end quote) The second clip, I will look for the original source and post it, but I found it on the Range Free Families YouTube channel. Interviewer: "How do we start with the education? What can we do there?" Charlie Kirk: "Yeah, well, first of all, I think we need more parents to homeschool their kids if they can. I think homeschooling is a great solution. The church needs to step up even more. It needs to take a leadership role in how we are educating our kids." (end quote) I am just sick inside. I've been crying this whole afternoon. I'm grieving for his beautiful wife, Erika, and their sweet, innocent children. Please pray for them to be comforted and given peace and rest through Christ. This morning in my scripture study, before this all happened, I was studying about how God will make our trials work together for our good. Romans chapter 8 verse 28 says, "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose." It's very difficult to see what good can come from this horrific tragedy. But if anything, I hope that Charlie's courage, boldness, and testimony spreads even more across the globe and that many hearts and minds will come to the knowledge of the truth. Though many people disagreed with Charlie, he promoted freedom of speech and respectful discourse and debate. And he was fair. What has happened to this good man and his beautiful wife and children whom he loved so dearly is not fair. But I find comfort in this quote: "All that is unfair about life can be made right through the atonement of Jesus Christ." (end quote) Right before Charlie was shot, from what I understand, he had just testified of Christ. Let us be as unashamed as Charlie was to share our testimonies of the Savior. Let us continue to defend religious liberty, protect our rights and freedom to educate our own children, and spread the love of Christ. I am so grateful and comforted through my knowledge that this life is not the end. Death is not the end. God has a plan, and there is life after death, and families can be together forever. Thank you Charlie Kirk for your courage, boldness, and your example to all of us. Rest in peace. We love you." https://homeschoolbroadcast.com
