  • 105: Can I Be Excused?
    2022/12/05

This ordeal has taken a lot from you and it's not fair that you have to suffer. So now you want to know if you can be exempted from having to deal with the situation because it is very painful to deal with.

The person/people who hurt you seem to be doing fine, but you are the one who has been left to suffer from extensive damage.

Is there a way to not deal with any of it and just move on? Is there a way for you to be excused?

Today, we're talking about perseverance even when it's hard. I know it's really, really hard but please push through. There is a spiritual purpose for all things that happen in life, but you have to push through long enough for the meaning to eventually be revealed.

Listen to the Holier Than Now podcast, hosted by Felizia Hunt, for her insights and observations on moving forward from crisis, trauma, and being a spiritual being living in a human body on planet Earth! • 103: About Your People
    2022/11/20

Today's episode is about identifying and being thankful for your people. I'm talking about the people who have rocked with you since Day 1. They hold a very important position in your life that is not to be taken for granted. Cherish these people. These are your people that God has sent to bless your life and you have been sent to bless theirs as well.

Not everyone sees you or thinks of you in the way your abuser does/did. Not everyone has negative things to say. Negativity bias, especially after suffering from trauma, will have you feeling bad about the things one or a few people have to say, while ignoring the opinions of your actual support system.

  • 102: The Reactions of Others
    2022/11/12

It is not uncommon to feel hurt about the callousness of people whom you expect to care about what is happening to you or what has happened to you. Survivors are often shocked at how alone they feel, or how the loyalty they expect to receive in exchange for the loyalty they have shown is not reciprocated when they need it. This is especially true if their situation is ongoing, which is what constitutes the trauma types that result in complex trauma.

It is inevitable for people to show impatience or run out of empathy when they have calculated that your problem should have been solved by now. Or if their efforts to help ended up throwing you from the pan into the fire, but they don't realize that, so they believe you are being ungrateful.

Other people's calculations about the progress of your situation or the decisions you "should have" made are not based on understanding the nuances of your situation. Those calculations are based on limited information, which usually contains inaccuracies. The calculations are often arbitrary as well.

Survivors should know that other people's reactions or responses to their situation are based on their own mental processes, their own lives, and the information they have received from various sources. Knowing this should make it easier not to dwell on the reactions of others, so you can turn your attention to your spiritual practice and deepen your relationship with the Creator.

  • 101 : The Power of Confession
    2022/11/07

Take your power back by telling your story when and how you are ready. You are a human being with thoughts, feelings, ideas, and behaviors that continually evolve, but you've had moments or seasons that weren't cute.

List of Things That Weren't Cute:

    Embarrassing yourself

    Being emotionally fragile

    Being scared

    Being "weak"

    Being a pleaser

    Being lonely

    Being dragged

    Feeling like a failure

This is all part of the human experience.

Many of us are trippin' over common obstacles and feeling bad about it.

    Free yourself and confess!

In our first episode, our host will share some confessions so she can get it out the way.

  • 001: Might Not Be Perfect But The Show Must Go On
    2022/11/06

The Holier Than Now podcast had previously been delayed while waiting on ideal circumstances to start. You know, a day when there's not much background noise, or a day when I "feel like" it, or a day when I can have my favorite Congratulations You Did a Podcast meal.

This is madness. I'll admit it. Because the entire Holier Than Now movement is about understanding that people and circumstances might not be ideal, but that we are on a divinely guided path of growth, and everything will be fine, as long as we do the work.

So no more delays.  I recorded a message.
