Have a Lack of Self-Worth? 3 Ways to Build Confidence

What if your lack of confidence isn't actually the problem?

Maybe you look at other women and wonder, How does she seem so confident? How does she speak up like that? How does she set boundaries without feeling guilty? How does she trust herself?

But what if confidence is something you can actually rebuild?

After criticism, rejection, gaslighting, manipulation, or years of second-guessing yourself, it can become really difficult to trust your own thoughts, feelings, decisions, and instincts.

And eventually you may start questioning everything… your decisions, your instincts, your appearance, your worth, and even who you are.

In this episode, we're talking about what it really looks like to rebuild your self-worth and confidence as a Christian woman.

I'll share some of my own struggles with needing validation, learning to trust myself again, keeping promises to myself, and even the slightly ridiculous thing I started doing in the mirror to change the way I talked to myself. 😂

We'll talk about the difference between self-worth and confidence, why your worth cannot be determined by someone else's approval, how small acts of discipline can rebuild self-trust, and what Scripture says about the way we see ourselves.

Because confidence doesn't mean you never doubt yourself.

It doesn't mean you're never afraid.

And it definitely doesn't mean you become the loudest woman in the room.

Confidence is learning who you are, who you belong to, and learning to trust yourself again.

And friend, if you've spent years wondering whether you're enough, whether you're doing things right, or whether you can actually trust yourself… this conversation is for you.

  • 69. Go Mama Go: Breaking the Hyper-Vigilance Cycle
    2026/09/23

    Go, mama, go! 🙃

Get the kids up. Get them dressed. Make breakfast. Get them to school. Work. Pick them up. Practice. Dinner. Homework. Baths. Bed.

And then maybe you finally get to breathe… or fall asleep on the couch… or pour yourself another glass of whatever you just told yourself you weren't going to have as much of. 😂

But what if your constant “go, go, go” isn't always just because you're a busy mom?

What if sometimes busy becomes a socially acceptable way to avoid what you don't want to feel?

In this episode of Her Healing Season, we're talking about hyper-vigilance, survival mode, burnout, and the uncomfortable reality that sometimes slowing down can feel harder than staying busy.

After leaving my husband, I went straight into single-mom survival mode. I worked 7 days a week, had 3 different jobs, side hustles, kids, a social life, and a calendar that never seemed to stop.

I thought I was just being strong.

I thought I had a great work ethic.

But God eventually showed me something I didn't realize at the time:

I wasn't just working hard. I was running.

Running from grief. Running from fear. Running from uncertainty. Running from the pain of what had happened. And, in some ways, even running from the peace and rest God was trying to give me.

In this episode, we'll talk about:

    • What hyper-vigilance can look like in everyday motherhood

    • Why rest can feel uncomfortable after prolonged stress

    • How “if I keep moving, I don't have to feel” can become a pattern

    • Why busy can become a form of avoidance

    • The connection between survival mode and the inability to slow down

    • What the Bible says about rest, including Matthew 11:28–29, Psalm 46:10, Mark 6:31, and Psalm 23

    • What “holy rest” can actually look like

    • Learning to sit quietly with your thoughts instead of immediately filling the silence

    • Why rest isn't laziness, weakness, or irresponsibility

    • How God taught me that I could do what He called me to do without carrying what He never asked me to carry

    Because here's the thing, mama:

You were never created to live your entire life in survival mode.

There is a season to work. A season to move. A season to fight.

But there is also a season to be still.

Maybe your healing season begins when you finally stop running.

If you're a mom rebuilding your life after leaving a narcissistic husband and you're ready to stop surviving and begin rebuilding and restoring, I'd love to help you.

  • 67. 5 Healthy Habits To Build That Last
    2026/09/16

When you're rebuilding your life after an emotionally difficult relationship, it can feel like EVERYTHING needs to change.

Your routines. Your confidence. Your peace. Your relationship with God. Even the way you take care of yourself.

But you don't need a perfect routine—you need a few healthy habits that become foundational.

In this episode of Her Healing Season, we're talking about 5 simple habits that can help you rebuild your life with intention instead of continuing to live in reaction mode.

These aren't about becoming the "perfect" woman or creating some unrealistic 5 AM routine. They're about building habits that actually work inside your real life.

We'll also talk about why these habits can be especially important when you're coming out of a difficult relationship and trying to rebuild your identity, peace, health, and relationship with God.

And don't miss the 7-day challenge at the end: choose your five non-negotiables—or start with three—and begin building your next season on a solid foundation.

If you're ready to rebuild and restore, you don't have to do it alone.

  • 66. Good Boundaries & Goodbyes: Protecting Your Peace From a Narcissistic Ex
    2026/09/14

Leaving a narcissistic relationship is hard. But sometimes, leaving is only the beginning.

If you're a Christian mom who has left a toxic or narcissistic husband, you may be facing more than just the logistics of starting over. You may be questioning yourself, struggling to trust your own decisions, feeling guilty about your family, or wondering how you're ever going to feel like you again.

In this episode of Her Healing Season, Bethany gets personal about her own experience of leaving her first husband with two young children and the difficult season of leaving, coming back, questioning herself, and learning to trust her decisions again.

She shares two things God taught her along the way:

GOOD BOUNDARIES — Learning to let your yes be yes and your no be no, refusing to be talked out of decisions you know are right, and protecting yourself from unhealthy patterns without becoming consumed by conflict.

GOODBYES — Learning that it's okay to let go of people, things, expectations, old identities, and even the future you thought you were going to have. Sometimes healing means releasing what God is asking you to release so you can move forward into what He has for you.

    Together, we'll look at Scripture including Matthew 5:37, 1 Kings 18:21, Proverbs 22:24–25, John 15, 1 Corinthians 15:33, Philippians 3:13–14, and Matthew 10.

If you're struggling with healing after leaving a narcissistic husband, setting boundaries, rebuilding your peace, trusting yourself again, or letting go of the past, this episode is for you.

And if you're ready for some personal support as you begin rebuilding, learn more about Rebuild and Restore Coaching, Bethany's one-on-one coaching for Christian moms healing after a narcissistic relationship.

  • 65. Are You Striving or Surrendering? The Enneagram, Mom Guilt & Growing Closer to God with Dina Smith
    2026/09/09

What if some of the things you’ve always considered “just who I am” are actually patterns you’ve learned to rely on?

In this episode, I’m joined by Dina Smith, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, speaker, and Enneagram coach, for a conversation about the Enneagram, Christian faith, motherhood, relationships, and spiritual growth.

Dina explains what the nine Enneagram types are and how understanding our motivations can help us recognize patterns in the way we think, feel, behave, parent, and relate to others. But this conversation isn’t about putting yourself in a box—it’s about gaining self-awareness and discovering the places where you may need God’s grace the most.

We talk about mom guilt, perfectionism, people-pleasing, striving, conflict, parenting from our own personality instead of understanding our children, and what happens when we finally surrender the strategies we’ve used our whole lives.

Most importantly, we talk about the reminder every Christian mom needs: you are already loved. Spiritual growth isn’t about striving your way into becoming worthy of God’s love. It’s about becoming increasingly free to live in the love and grace you’ve already received through Christ.

If you’ve ever thought, “Why do I keep doing this?” or wondered why you struggle with the same patterns over and over again, this conversation is for you.
