このコンテンツについて

Goddess in Training is a podcast about what it really looks like to live by your intuition — even when it’s messy, uncertain, or completely off-script. Hosted by Sarah Stevenson, these are unfiltered conversations and personal stories about following inner nudges, making bold choices, and learning to trust yourself in a world that teaches you not to. It’s not always graceful, but it’s real. If you’re craving deeper self-trust, grounded wisdom, and the kind of honesty that makes you exhale — you’re in the right place.

In this episode, I sit down with Rev. Barry W. Lynn—minister, constitutional lawyer, and lifelong advocate for civil liberties. Barry served as Executive Director of Americans United for Separation of Church and State, where I had the honor of working with him for over a decade.

    * His new three-volume memoir series: Paid to Piss People Off: Peace, Porn, and Prayer

    * The powerhouse women who influenced him—from Gloria Steinem to his incredible wife Joanne

    * Why music and mercy matter now more than ever

    * Defending the First Amendment (even when it's uncomfortable)

    * His unlikely friendships with political opposites like Pat Buchanan and Oliver North

    * Using intuition to guide difficult choices—including a memorable move to Dartmouth

💬 Reflections: On Legacy, Love, and Listening

Some episodes hit you in the gut with their humanity. This is one of them.

Barry Lynn has lived many lives—pastor, lawyer, protestor, prankster, constitutional watchdog—and yet the throughline is startlingly clear: he cared deeply. About people. About decency. About what’s fair. He fought systems of power, but never lost his sense of humor or his belief in the potential for transformation.

We talked about how he found himself in a porno theater with the head of a government commission (yes, really), how he helped Vietnam vets navigate unjust military discharges, and why his legacy isn’t about conversions—but about conversations.

One of my favorite moments from our time working together was hearing Mary Gauthier sing Mercy Now at a Voices United concert we organized in LA. Listening to Barry talk about that night—about music, movement, and memory—I felt reminded of why I started this podcast. To capture moments of truth. To share the stories that stir us.

“At the end of their time, people need to be able to say, ‘I was as authentic as I could be.’”— Rev. Barry Lynn

If you've ever wondered how to live a life guided by values—without becoming hardened by the fight—this episode is for you.

💌 Let’s Keep the Conversation Going

Did Barry’s story resonate with you? What does “good trouble” mean in your life? I’d love to hear your reflections in the comments—or reply directly to this email.

And as always, thank you for listening, reading, and showing up with your full self.Much love,Sarah

  • Saying Yes to Self: Intuition, Boundaries, and Energetic Healing with Rachel Milne
    2025/07/30

    🎙️ Show Notes

In this episode of Goddess in Training, I’m joined by Rachel Milne, a holistic intuitive health coach whose story is a testament to the quiet, powerful practice of saying yes—to healing, to growth, and to living from intuition.

We explore how intuition and boundaries are deeply intertwined—not opposing forces, but companions in navigating a life that honors your truth. Rachel shares how she reclaimed her intuitive voice after years of silencing it, how she learned to trust what she knew without needing proof, and why she believes every boundary set from love opens the door to deeper connection.

    You’ll hear us talk about:

    * Rachel’s journey from burnout and people-pleasing to empowered living

    * Why setting boundaries is actually an act of love (not separation)

    * How to tell the difference between fear-based and love-based boundaries

    * What it means to feel your way into decisions instead of rationalizing them

    * Practices to reconnect to your inner YES

    * How to build a life—and even a business—without relying on social media

    * The energetic tools Rachel uses in her healing practice

    * And why your brilliant light is needed now more than ever
