    Don't make it weird!

If you’re not already following Britt Hartley, you’re seriously missing out. She’s like a bad ass gps for finding your way through the spiritual world without running into all the outdated and patriarchal bullshit that is brewing in most organized religious institutions. Britt shows us how to capture all the good stuff like meaning, ritual, awe, and community without the creepy myths or mandatory doctrine that usually come with it. Why can’t we build our own church? Why shouldn’t we write our own doctrine, pick our own saints, or just make up our own rules that are based around our core values? Honestly, it shouldn’t be as mind-blowing as it is but apparently, we can have those deep, awe-filled experiences without any gods or weird dudes involved.

Turns out, there’s a real science behind “spirituality,” which is a nice surprise especially for us logical atheist types who want that sense of wonder again without having to believe in things that are nonsensical to us. Britt’s brilliant work is everywhere under “No Nonsense Spirituality,” and her book No Nonsense Spirituality: All The Tools, No Faith Required is basically a blueprint for creating your own spiritual toolkit without the dogma and without the woo. We have all basically fallen in love with her and we know you will too!

Back in our day, crunchy people were liberals that smelled like patchouli and wore birkenstocks. When did republican moms in prairie dresses and maga hats take over?? Weird.

In this episode, we’re diving headfirst into the (greased with beef tallow) crunchy-to-alt right pipeline: Autism, Tylenol, MLM cults, bad science, and really bad RFK Jr. impressions.

So join us! Let’s laugh so we don’t cry, under the most brainworm-ey administration in history.

  • No Jesus Snakes for Jezebel
    2025/10/12

    Send us a text

Today our anonymous guest Jezebel shares her story of growing up with Pentecostal Oneness: a fringe sect of the Pentecostal church where the teachings on "spiritual connections" (aka church sanctioned marital affairs) started with dance and prayer partners and ended with "adultery is totally fine as long as you don't spill your seed in them!"

Luckily Jezebel's family left that church early on, but her story continues with an upbringing of strict evangelicalism complete with bible based homeschooling and being isolated from the so called evils of the world... like music with drums in it! The horror!

We also answer the important questions like: What would Jesus break over his head if he were on the Power Team, and does Lesbianism travel through the air vents?? Tune in to find out!

(The other hundred times it was supposed to come were just like... God's version of a fire drill, to get you ready of course!) So come on white Jesus, stop being a bum baby daddy and come get your kids already! (We are tired of them)

In this episode, we sit down with Cassie Flynn to hear her deconstruction story! After finding initial comfort in a Quaker community, her shift to evangelicalism brought both spiritual highs and disillusionment. An internship at a mega church exposed her to manipulative teachings, eventually prompting her to leave the church altogether. Cassie opens up about her struggles with addiction, mental health, and the grief of losing her parents—all of which sparked a profound shift in her beliefs. Today, she focuses on healing, self-connection, and building supportive communities outside of traditional religion. We explore themes of faith deconstruction, body shame, identity fluidity, and the unknowns of the afterlife. Cassie reminds us that humor can be healing, liberation is possible, and it's okay not to have all the answers.
