• Juan Pablo Paredes - Leadership, Risk & Resilience Across Borders
    2025/10/13

I interview Juan Pablo Paredes—or JP, as he's known— a Colombian industrial engineer who's spent over 25 years navigating the intersection of security, business, and public service across multiple continents. JP brings a truly global perspective to security and risk management. JP's career has taken him from the oil fields of Indonesia as a field engineer with Schlumberger to the executive suites of Fortune 500 companies like Pfizer, Kraft Foods, and Cisco Systems, where he led security operations across Latin America, EMEA, and the Americas. But perhaps most remarkably, he stepped out of the corporate world to serve as Secretary of Security and Justice for the city of Cali, Colombia—bringing private sector expertise to one of the most challenging public safety environments in Latin America.

Today, based in Mexico, JP works as an independent risk management consultant and shares his expertise as an MBA professor teaching Business Continuity and Crisis Management. He's also contributed to the field at the international level as a member of the ASIS Technical Committee on Security and Resilience.Connect with JP on LinkedIn:https://www.linkedin.com/in/jpparedes/
