  • Why Your Podcast Needs a Customer Journey | with Terryl Humphrey | Ep #445
    2026/08/23

If you are trying to figure out how to use a podcast to build trust, one of the biggest things to understand is that podcasting is not only about recording content. You also have to think about the experience you are creating for the people you want to reach.

In this episode of the Failure Is Knowledge Podcast, I talk about why your customer’s journey is so important and how I started applying this to our own podcast production process.

    I break down three things:

How to create your customer’s path

Why you should go through your own process

How to identify what makes you different

I also share what happened when we tested our live podcast experience at a vendor event.

Before the event, I practiced the process. I put the equipment up. I took it down. I timed myself. I looked at what the customer would see. I kept asking what was working, what was not working, and what could be improved.

Then we tested it with real people.

Seven entrepreneurs experienced the podcast activation and five paid.

That experience helped me understand that the focus could not only be on what we wanted to sell.

The focus had to be on the customer.

Podcasting can also help people learn about you before they ever have a conversation with you. They can hear your story, understand your business, and start building trust with you.

If you are a business owner thinking about using podcasting to become more visible, build trust, and share your story, this episode will help you think differently about the experience you are creating.

  • Follow Up Is More Important Than I Thought | with Terryl Humphrey | Ep #449
    2026/08/22

How do you follow up with podcast leads without feeling like you are bothering people?

One of the biggest things I am learning is that the conversation has to continue. Someone showing interest in your podcast, registering for your training, or having one conversation with you does not mean the relationship is finished.

In this episode of the Failure Is Knowledge Podcast, I share what finally made follow up make sense to me.

I recently had four entrepreneurs register for my Launch Your Podcast in Less Than 90 Minutes training.

When the training started, none of them showed up.

Instead of assuming they were no longer interested, I started calling and texting them.

    Two of the four responded.

    That taught me something.

    The conversation can continue.

In this episode, I talk about:

    • Why one conversation is not enough

    • Why follow up matters in business

    • How communication helps build trust

After producing 893 podcast episodes, I am recognizing that podcasting is not only about creating content.

It can help you start conversations and build relationships, but those relationships still have to be maintained.

If you are an established business owner trying to use podcasting to build trust, this episode will help you understand why the work does not stop after the first conversation.

  • What It Takes to Launch a Podcast | with Terryl Humphrey | Ep #444
    2026/08/19

Have you ever wondered what actually goes into launching a podcast?

In this episode of the Failure Is Knowledge Podcast, I'm bringing you behind the scenes while I set up my cameras, microphones, lights, and teleprompter to record a new video for the Failure Is Knowledge website.

I'm also sharing why I've continued changing our messaging, what producing more than 893 podcast episodes has taught me, and why I believe business owners should start their podcast with what they have.

Launching a podcast can feel like a lot.

You have to think about the equipment, recording, editing, publishing, content, and staying consistent.

But you don't have to figure out everything before you start.

When I started, my tripod wasn't even tall enough.

I had to put three books underneath it just to get the camera where I needed it.

Over time, I upgraded my equipment and continued learning.

That's one of the biggest lessons from this episode:

    Start with what you have.

Podcasting gives you an opportunity to share your expertise, tell your stories, market your business, build trust, and connect with people in different ways.

If you're a business owner who has been thinking about launching your podcast, schedule a free 15 minute strategy call with Failure Is Knowledge.

We'll learn where you are, what's been stopping you from getting started, and see how we may be able to help you launch your podcast.
