He attended Joliet Junior College from 1963 to ‘65 and then attended Lewis College (now Lewis University) from 1965 to ‘67. Terry was drafted into the U.S. Army in February 1968 and served in Vietnam as a rifleman from July 1968 to September 1969. He was wounded in action in September 1968. After returning from the Army, he worked for various local firms as a land surveyor from 1970 to ‘79. He started a land surveying business in 1979 with a lifelong friend, Dennis Tonelli. Their business expanded to include civil engineering, land planning and geographic information systems and by the year 2000 we had about 60 employees. He retired in 2007 from this business. His life partner and wife, Elaine, has been at his side for the last 52 years. They have four wonderful children and ten grandchildren. Their oldest, Krista, 51, lives with her husband, Chris, and their 2 daughters, Ava and Sophie, in Glen Ellen, Illinois. Their son, Jeff, 48, lives with his wife, Heidi, and their 3 daughters, Lucy, Anna, and Alice, in Wheaton, Illinois. Their daughter, Kara, 46, lives with her husband Joel and their 2 daughters, Iris and Vivian, in Elmhurst, Illinois. Their daughter, Katie, 44, lives with her husband, Mike, and their children, Ella, Mikey, and Drew, in Indiana. Life has been wonderful, and he looks forward to being with his family for years to come.
