  • Episode 23: Revisited Episode 3 - Be Patient With Yourself
    2021/09/28
It is rather cliche but it still holds true; we live in unprecedented times!  Now more than ever we need to be patient with ourselves first and then with others. In this episode I revisit the topic of Patience because we need this gentle reminder. Life is coming at some of us hard, fast and aggressive. As we navigate this new world and grapple with our new normal we have extend to ourselves grace and compassion!  In this revisited episode; I expand the discussion by sharing three tips with you: Practice - practicing patience is really the only way we will get better at being patient. Look for opportunities to practice. Remember being patient means you are accessing that personal power that allows you to wait without being angry or upset. Pay Attention To Progress Not Perfection - None of us are perfect and yet while this is true it is not an excuse to not strive for improvement. We were not handed a manual on how to live in a pandemic! So do the best you can and if you fall short be gentle and forgiving. Praise yourself when you succeed; celebrating your victories will encourage you to keep striving. Reduce The Stress - Exhaustion and overwhelm seem to be constant companions in our lives. To really embody patience; we need to audit our lives and determine the areas and source(s) of our stress. Where possible delegate or outsource tasks so you don't take on more than you can truly handle. Know when to ask for help, ask for help and accept the help! My beautiful souls I send you love, peace, joy and I wish for you an abundance of opportunities to practice patience. Remember there are two sides to every coin; just flip it to get the full view!

  • Episode 22: Revisited Episode 2 - Be Kind
    2021/09/28
Be kind to yourself, kindness nurtures and gives hopes to your dreams. Respect yourself, listen to your needs, and treat yourself as you would a dear friend. Encourage yourself, don't take for granted the qualities that make you unique. Focus on yourself, it is with discipline and motivation that you will move towards your goals.  To determine what kindness is and means to you; you need to have self awareness and that comes from spending the time with yourself and getting to know yourself. Before you can extend kindness to others you have to extend it to yourself. Hold space for yourself; be compassionate towards yourself; give yourself that grace especially when the times are hard. Nurture yourself and pour into yourself. What are you affirming? Do you celebrate your unique qualities. Do you show yourself appreciation? Embrace being your own hype-man!  To pursue your goals; you require discipline and motivation. Your faith in yourself has to be unwavering regardless of the outcome. Recognize too that someone's reaction to you may not be about you but a projection of how they feel and think about themselves. You are unique and special; nobody can do you like you can. Walk through this world with the confidence that you have what it takes to realize your dreams and you are willing to do what it takes. For one day; one day your goals will be a reality.

  • Episode 21: Revisited Episode 1 - Skankin Sweet Forget Your Troubles And Rock With Me
    2021/08/28
There are some songs that are my go to for feeling good! Whenever I want to raise my spirits and improve my mood; I put on my playlist and dance without a care! Music has the power to soothe, to calm, to encourage introspection, to heal. Chronixx is an ambassador for Reggae music and the Revolution this wave of artistes herald. Skankin Sweet reminds us to let go and surrender to the power of music and dance.   Music helps us to shift our focus and see things from a different perspective. Pressures of life, problems and challenges can obscure our view and if we are not careful we are caught in a cycle of worry, fear and powerlessness. Dance because you know the truth, this life is temporary, every thing has an expiration date and this too shall pass. Raise your vibrations and remember the Universe responds to the energy you offer. Abundance, peace, prosperity and all good things are only a good thought away. You tune into abundance, so dial in and match the frequency of your desires. When you acknowledge that gratitude is the key to unlocking the magic;  your life will begin to take on a whole new meaning. Solitude is necessary, so if you are abandoned, go within for there is where the answers live. • Episode 20: Season 3 Episode 20 - All Mine
    2021/08/25
As the last episode of Season 3 I had to end on a high note! I needed to reinforce the message that your life is your own and you can do whatever you want; the opinions of others shouldn't matter to you! The Tarrus Riley song My Day is such a fun upbeat song laden with positive messages and reminders that you determine the kind of day and life you have. If you set your intentions; hold a vision and keep to the mission you can fulfill your destiny. Tarrus reminds us that the criticism of others; their negativity and low energy can't impact us when we are vibing high; and we're tapped in emotionally; mentally and spiritually.  As you set your goals and pursue your dreams; give yourself the room to be; take up all the space you need to grow and flourish. Don't let the expectations of others confine you and restrict your growth. Focus on how you feel and cultivate the winning spirit! Tell the world; look out cause here I come! You are full of so much potential but you need to exercise self belief and take action. Let your actions be intentional; surround yourself with like-minded people who will push you towards your greatest self! Use your challenges as opportunities to grow and increase your resilience and tenacity!  I wish you all the best and send you love and blessings! It is so easy to think that life is hopeless and there's no point in going on. I'm here to remind you; once you have breath you have options. The news, the world, your colleagues, family and friends may want you to believe you don't have a choice but you do. Every day above ground is a good day! If you are blessed to see another day and complete it; give all the gratitude and appreciation you can.  You possess the most powerful thing on this entire "space rock" also known as earth - your mind. You can shape and determine the life you will live by your thoughts and what you focus on. You are really a thought away from happiness or sorrow. This powerful little book packs a punch and will really help shape your perspective on thinking and feeling in relation to your goals. It is my hope that as you get ready to face whatever life throws at you; remember you are more than the world wants you to think. You truly are a thought away from happiness or sorrow. • Episode 18: Season 3 Episode 18 - Likkle But We Tallawah
    2021/08/25
Likkle But We Tallawah is the expression of the Jamaican spirit. We are not defined by our size or confined to the expectations of a small island nation. We are bold, fearless, resilient, strong, passionate people. We have an indomitable spirit. We are everywhere and we know how to shine. I am proud to be a Jamaican; I am honored to be apart of a culture that has impacted the world in a tremendous way. We have left an indelible mark on music, athletics, food, fashion, the arts, science. We were the first nation to voice our disagreement and displeasure with apartheid in South Africa! We took that step and the world followed. We are natural born leaders; it's in our DNA! The 2020 Olympics was yet another opportunity to remind the world that we may be small but we are MIGHTY. We are not just happy to be there; we came to win! The black, green and gold flew high and proud and it was thrilling to witness! We made history by having the first woman to ever achieve the DOUBLE DOUBLE! Elaine Thompson-Herah successfully defended her 100m and 200m titles. What a time to be alive; what a time to be a Jamaican! Jamaica has so much to offer and there is so much to emulate. If you should choose one thing; it should be our spirit. As you navigate your life and make choices about your dreams; embody the spirit of power, passion and purpose. Tell yourself you want it; you will have it; believe it and then go get it! Let no one's opinion dissuade you. Let no challenges shake you. In times of doubt, look in the mirror and remind yourself; you are Tallawah! To my fellow Jamaicans let's continue to do our homeland proud; represent our island well! Be ambassadors of one of the most impactful brands on earth! Wear the black, green and gold with pride. If anyone should dare to question why you are here; remind them that you come from a history of warriors; a lineage of movers, shakers and history makers. Never underestimate us; cause we likkle but we Tallawah!

  • Episode 17: Season 3 Episode 17 - Wildest Dream
    2021/08/25
Today August 1st many former European colonies will celebrate Emancipation Day. A specific group of people thought it was a good idea to enslave another group of people and visit on them unspeakable horror; the effects of which we are still experiencing. When we endure that kind of trauma it impacts our genetic makeup and affects our entire lineage. Slavery was not going to end; because it was highly profitable; so no body bothered to consider the implications of slavery.  For this week I want to talk about the Freedom of the Mind. While our ancestors’ physical body was enslaved; their mind wasn’t. It was defiant and so lighting acres of sugar cane was the order of the day; planning and leading rebellions; forming a militia speaks to the fearless warrior spirit our ancestors.  The trauma was passed down and so too was the resilient and fighting spirit. You are your ancestors’ wildest dreams, because we are their wildest dreams. We don’t have the luxury of playing it safe. We don’t have the time for doubt, for the imposter syndrome. Because everything you are and everything you have accomplished was a dream of your ancestor. Learning to read was a crime punishable by death and our ancestors learned to read anyway. While some of us out here behave like reading is a chore; we have the luxury of reading any time and some of us out here refuse to read a caption. That is privilege. Some of us have forgotten to cost of the freedoms we enjoy.  Our minds could be enslaved whether it is self-imposed or the effects of Society. Bob Marley in his song Redemption Song reminds in his thought-provoking soul stirring song “Emancipate yourself from mental slavery none but ourselves can free our mind. Have no fear for atomic energy cause none of them can stop the time”. Some of us are walking around and we are not free. We are imprisoned because of fear; self doubt, the opinions of others.  We are enslaved by the preoccupation with They. A popular question we ask is “what will they think or what will they say”. Let them talk. The opinions of others should not be your business when it comes to living your life and pursuing your dreams. Emancipation day calls for honest introspection.  We need to have that raw honest vulnerable conversation with ourselves. Assess if we are really living up to our full potential! Our ancestors did not endure all they did; just so you could play it safe. You are here afraid to take risks! Meanwhile your ancestors where here plotting how to escape the horrors of slavery; which they did and they went back and helped others escape too! And you are afraid of taking a chance on yourself and go after your dreams because you are afraid of what they will think and what they will say? Ask yourself what do I want to do? Ask yourself that question. Once you can figure that out; it will dictate what you need to do. The next questions to ask are: am I willing and am I able. You are special and you are your ancestors wildest dreams. Take up as much space as you want! It will require a lot healing and mental work but it can be done.!

  • Episode 16: Season 3 Episode 16 - Know Your Limit
    2021/08/25
Jamaican proverbs are full of so much common sense wisdom that offer guidance on how we navigate life. Personal Development doesn’t always have to be so serious! It can be fun! As Jamaicans we can be so expressive and how creative we are in giving our commonsense wisdom and the fearlessness with which we communicate. Monkey mus know weh him go put him tail before him order trousiz. Be clear about how you’re going to carry out the task; before you initiate the process. We want to take on projects without considering the implications of the yes. You say yes; without understanding what you are saying yes to. There is value in pausing and assessing whether or not you should yes to the opportunity. When we say yes to things; do we have a limitation or insecurity that could hinder us. It is good to say yes and push the boundaries. When we say yes to something; we are saying no to something yes.  If cow did know how him throat hole tan; or how him batty part. Him wouldn’t chance pear seed. We do not always realize our limitations. We are willing to embrace opportunities; that we tend to forget our limitations. It is good to take on something outside of you comfort zone and skillset. It is good to be mindful that we have limitations. We shouldn’t look at ourselves in that manner; because we restrict ourselves in what we explore. When we know our limitations; we can make easier choices. The decision doesn’t become can or I do it. It becomes should I do or not. We can decide whether or not to take on the challenges because we know what we’re capable. Knowing your limitations makes the decision making process easier. Recognize that you have limits and there is nothing wrong; embracing your limitations and pushing past them if you think there is value in doing so.  When you go a jackass yard; you nuh fi chat bout him big ears. Being tactful and kind is important. Don’t criticize someone in their presence or behind their back. If you think your feedback will add value; then find a kind way to share it with the person. It is better to kind than to be nice. Whether it is a physical or character trait; find a kind compassionate way to provide the feedback. It is the person’s prerogative to accept or reject your feedback. If you can guarantee that your feedback won’t make the person feel small; insignificant and unworthy then share your feedback. If you can guarantee that you will add value; make a positive impact and improve their day then by all means share it. But if believe because you are sharing the truth you can be blunt and rude; just remember the roles can be reversed. Man nuh cross river nuh fi cuss alligator say him mouth long. This is a timely reminder. We need people; we are social beings. As a fellow introvert; being around people can be hard; it can be emotionally and physically exhausting. We were wired to function in a community. By living in tribes and clans; they were able to secure their safety. Safety from the elements and safety from predators. As you engage with people be mindful of your interactions. I’m not encouraging you to be a brown-noser. Your value should come from you and what you can bring to the table. Your integrity and strength of character is where you place your value; not in who you can compliment. Be authentic and sincere in your dealings. Don’t be dismissive of people just because you perceive they can’t do anything for you. Be honest in all your dealings; have the highest integrity. Be genuine in your relationship building. Don’t use people. Don’t treat people as objects. Don’t let your position in life to inflate your ego. Don’t be misled by the belief that you are untouchable so you can treat people poorly. You don’t know the connections and reach of people.  Until next time remember "There are two sides to every coin; just flip it to get the full view!"
