  • Authority: What is it good for? Absolutely Something. Part 3.
    2022/09/09

Howdy ALL!!  Today we bring to a close Benjamin and I's discussion around the points and concepts he brought forward in his essay; "In Defense of the Authoritarian Impulse".

It's been a wild and thought provoking ride.. One that I hope you all have enjoyed as much as I did.

The inspiration for the thumbnail (on the youtube version) came from one of our rabbit trails regarding the inconsistency of law and the misuse of it through institutional corporate capture... aka regulatory capture.

I will apologize in advance for my seeming inability to bring words to bear in this episode as I was pushing through some form of blooming illness... of which I'm still teetering on whether or not I will succumb to it. BUT WE PRESS ON!

As always friends, I hope you enjoyed this. Please feel free to comment, like, subscribe, or share.   Do as you will!

    2022/09/05

    Howdy all!

As promised this my reading of Mr. Forney's, quite honestly, amazing essay on the topic of Latent Authoritarianism and it's function as the immune system of Society.

I'm glad to have it put together prior to our finishing our dissection of his work this coming week.

I hope you all enjoy his work as much as I did.   Be well!

    Howdy all!

We are continuing forward with the Forney Factor and our discussion regarding Ben's essay.

During our talk we traced through the evolution of red lining and how's it's progressed to include whomever isn't deemed "ideal" or acceptable.

I found what I believe to the be article mentioned! So enough blathering here, enjoy the show!

Not much else to blather on about here, so get to listening!

  • Applicable Intersectionality? Eeehhhh... Probably not
    2022/08/28

    Howdy all!

Edmund and I are back, as promised!!  We've decided to break the philosophical ice with a jaunt through the concept of "intersectionality", in an attempt to be semi-topical with our current goings on of today.

We intend to use this as a jumping off point to discuss the concept of race/ethnicity either in our next conversation or another in the nearish future.   Through this conversation, I was actually brought around to the idea of intersectionality having at least SOME positive application, if not in day to day personal application. The idea of data harvesting of individuals along as many points of "individualization" could have some benefit to someone somewhere; but not within the confines of peer to peer interactions.

We had a fun at the expense of the practitioners of Intersectional ideology and we hope you will too!

    Howdy all!

Today I'm embarking upon a NEW ECC miniseries with my friend through the book of faces, Mr. Benjamin Forney!

Mr. Forney is quite the autodidact and has graced me with a couple of essays he has penned on the topic of authority within social hierarchy.

Within this episode we get through roughly one third of his first essay, "In Defense of the Authoritarian Impulse". I have to say, I'm not easily impressed and I do not often find my own mindset and perspective so thoroughly and thoughtfully expressed.

I quite enjoyed our initial foray into his work. This will be a 2 to 3 part venture into his initial essay; after which we will delve into his second one. Which expounds upon the general topic.

I won't reveal much more upon the topic, but I will lead with this quote of his:  "If violence is not solving all of your problems, you aren't using enough of it. Then again, there are often more efficient ways to solve problems, than brute force."

  • Philosophy, Dogma, and Prophecy
    2022/08/02

    Hello all!

This episode is a bit atypical. This was intended to be regular conversation, with my friend Edmund, without any intent to record.

Thankfully, we decided to record the conversation despite our original intent.

I ended up cutting out aspects of the conversation that referenced podcasting logistics and when we had a few instances of poor latency.   This won't be the last time we see Edmund on ECC. In fact, I'm intending on starting a new round table, that focuses on the more esoteric aspects of our existence.

A welcome break from the literal insanity that is our news cycle/current events.

    I hope you all enjoy!

  • Rapid Fire Roundtable: Cops and Guns!
    2022/07/29

Howdy all! So we are tryin' a new format for the roundtable!

In an attempt to slim down our penchant to wax ever so eloquently in perhaps overt verbosity... we've instituted some rules... and a TIMER!   I got to put on my "Ringleader" hat and laid down "the law" during this episode.

We took a note from the "Around the Horn" show from ESPN and did timed round-robin style "MY TWO CENTS" commentary with the winner of each round getting an extended segment to expound upon their specific point!   I should probably not have been given power over the buzzer, as I had entirely too much fun cuttin' folks off if they went over their allotted time.

I'll like come back to this to add some links for citation purposes, but I'd like to give it another listen through myself prior to.... Since I didn't get to actively participate in the discussion, my notes were a little shoddy.

For those of you who wish for a spoiler, Rose and Shawn tied as winners for our debut "Rapid Fire Roundtable".

  • Bros of a Feather: A Laidback ChitChat
    2022/07/08

    Howdy all!

Yet another June episode that got set back due to life being life.

However, between some slight sickness on his end and impromptu trip that also delayed our roundtable. Life is life... so we decided we'd sit down and just have a chat about that!

I sat down with my friend Zach Simmons, Off Brand Thor to those who know him online.

He's led quite an Eclectic life, and I was quite thankful to get to sit down with him and hear a small bit of his story.

I hope you enjoy our conversation as much as I did, and if you enjoyed hearing Zach and enjoyed our flow, let us know in the comments!   Might just invite him back to throw his two cents into the roundtable!!
