  • Episode 15 - Child Support
    2025/05/04
Let’s Get Real About the Feelings, Stories, and Energetics of Child Support In this raw and unfiltered episode, Audrey dives deep into one of the most emotionally charged and commonly misunderstood topics of post-divorce life: child support. Whether you're the one paying it or receiving it, child support often brings with it layers of guilt, shame, resentment—or all of the above. Audrey opens up about her personal journey and the stories she sees in her coaching clients, shedding light on how to transform your relationship with money, parenting, and support into one rooted in gratitude, abundance, and neutrality. Emotions and Energetics of Money Audrey begins by revisiting the emotional and energetic weight money carries, especially during and after divorce. She reflects on societal taboos, childhood conditioning, and the often uncomfortable energy we hold around discussing and receiving money. Through breathwork and presence, she invites listeners to soften their shoulders and arrive at a neutral state with money as a starting point. Redefining Child Support Through Gratitude Instead of framing child support with guilt or resentment, Audrey reframes it as a beautiful system designed to ensure stability for children. She encourages listeners—especially those receiving support—to shift from shame to gratitude, recognizing child support as a vehicle that allows them to be more present, grounded, and available for their kids during a transformative time. Healing the Shame Around Receiving Audrey shares how her own experience with shame around receiving child support stifled her creativity and voice for years. By learning to fully receive—compliments, help, and money—she was able to step into her purpose, build her business, and reconnect with abundance. This segment is a powerful reminder that our ability to receive directly affects the abundance we allow into our lives. For the Parent Paying Support Addressing the other side, Audrey offers compassion and a powerful mindset shift for those paying child support. Instead of framing it as a loss or burden, she offers affirmations and new language around generosity and contribution—inviting listeners to see themselves as active, abundant supporters of their children’s well-being, even from a distance. Make It Neutral. Make It Beautiful. Audrey invites listeners to find neutrality. Child support is not good or bad—it’s simply a thing that happens. The stories we attach to it are what create emotional weight. She challenges listeners to ask: “How is this belief serving me?” and offers a new lens: each payment, each dollar, is putting food on the table, gas in the car, and security in your children’s lives. And that is a beautiful thing. Mamacita, I see you. I love you. I am you. Whether you’re receiving child support or paying it, you are doing the best you can. You are supporting your children, and that is sacred. If you’ve been holding shame, resentment, or guilt—please know you can release it. You can rewrite your story starting now. I’m so proud of you for showing up, for being in this space, and for doing the work. Divorce doesn’t break you—it transforms you. And you, my love, are becoming your best self, day after day, breath after breath. Love you. See you next time. Join the Divorced AF Community! Love this episode? Becoming the Steady Anchor for Your Children

Divorce can feel like a storm, but your children don’t need two perfect parents—they just need one stable, loving, and regulated parent to thrive. In this episode of Divorced AF, Audrey Alice explores the power of being the solid parent, even when co-parenting with someone who isn’t. Backed by research from Harvard on childhood resilience, she shares insights on emotional regulation, self-care, and how your presence alone can shape your children’s well-being.

Audrey kicks off the episode with a warm multilingual greeting, expressing gratitude for the Divorced AF community. She acknowledges the impact of her listeners in shaping this podcast and gives a special shoutout to her son, Hugo Amos, who created the show’s intro and outro music.

This week’s episode is all about one crucial truth—your kids don’t need two stable parents. They just need one. Audrey introduces the importance of emotional regulation and resilience, reassuring parents that their efforts alone can make all the difference in their children’s growth and healing.

Why One Solid Parent is Enough

Not every child has two emotionally stable parents, and that’s okay. Audrey discusses the power of one grounded, loving parent in a child's life. Drawing on a Harvard study on resilience, she highlights that having a single stable caregiver is enough to help kids grow into well-adjusted adults. She encourages listeners to focus on what they can control—creating a safe, supportive environment, rather than stressing over the actions of an unreliable co-parent.

Overcoming the Challenges of Being the Solid Parent

Being the steady, regulated parent isn’t easy—it requires emotional resilience, self-awareness, and healing. Audrey acknowledges the weight of this responsibility and the importance of self-care in maintaining that strength. Whether it's yoga, guided visualizations, or simply leaning on a strong support system, she reminds listeners that prioritizing their own well-being directly benefits their children.

You Don't Have to Be Perfect

Audrey reassures parents that they don’t have to be perfect. Instead, being authentic, showing up consistently, and regulating their own emotions will teach their children more than any lecture ever could.

Your children are watching how you navigate life, not just what you say. Audrey leaves listeners with an encouraging reminder: Your love, stability, and presence are enough. Keep showing up, keep choosing growth, and know that your impact is greater than you think.

She invites listeners to share their thoughts, ask questions, and continue the conversation. As always, she thanks the Divorced AF community for being a part of this journey.
