What starts as a search for Bigfoot doesn't always stay that way.

In this episode of Dark Florida, I’m joined by Jessi Doyle of Hellbent Holler to talk about Hunt for the Appalachian Bigfoot: Valley of the Giants. The documentary that took us deep into the Appalachian wilderness for an investigation that quickly became something neither of us expected.

Because I was there, on Blood Mountain.

I was part of this investigation, and sitting down with Jessi gave us the chance to look back at the experience from a completely different perspective. We revisit what happened in the field, the emotions we were feeling in those moments, the encounters that stayed with us, and the questions that followed us home.

We talk about the documentary itself, the experiences captured on camera, and some of the things that happened along the way that you won't necessarily see on screen.

But somewhere along the way, this conversation becomes about much more than Bigfoot.

We get into high strangeness, our personal experiences with the unexplained, and what happens when you enter an investigation looking for one answer and find yourself confronted with questions you never thought to ask.

What do we do when something doesn't fit the explanation we came looking for?

How do we make sense of experiences that feel very real, but don't have easy answers?

And perhaps most importantly, what happens when the hunt itself changes you?

This is an honest conversation about what we experienced, what we think may have happened, what we still don't understand, and the theories we've developed since leaving those mountains.

Hunt for the Appalachian Bigfoot: Valley of the Giants started as a Bigfoot investigation.

It became something much stranger.

Episode 42: The El Paso Incident, Bigfoot at Quantico, and the Abduction of Nancy Guthrie

In this episode of Dark Florida, we move from the sky… to the forest… to a disappearance that lingers in quiet uncertainty.

We begin in El Paso, where a strange airport incident has fueled speculation about unidentified aerial phenomena. Witness reports and unusual activity have left many questioning what was really seen above the runway. What really caused them to shut down the airspace? Sometimes the most unsettling part isn’t what’s witnessed... it’s how quickly it’s dismissed.

From there, we step into the woods with a former Marine who says he encountered something massive watching him from the tree line. This wasn’t someone prone to panic or fantasy. This was someone trained to observe, assess, and survive. His account includes details that echo thousands of other reports. But what stands out is what his experience may suggest about the mysterious tree structures often attributed to Bigfoot. If these structures are intentional, they may not be random at all. They could serve as markers, territorial boundaries, warnings, or even communication tools. His encounter gives us a possible glimpse into the intelligence and purpose behind those formations and why something might be shaping the forest in deliberate ways.

And finally, we explore the unsettling abduction of Nancy Guthrie, the mother of journalist Savannah Guthrie. We explore the details around the case. We discuss conflicting reports and where the investigation lies now.
