Welcome back to Chasing Memory, the podcast for central Missouri history. It's been a bit - and the transition has not been seamless. We'll circle back to the plans I had at the end of last season another time.

For the moment, this second season will take us into Chariton County, Missouri - and in particular the towns of Keytesville and Dalton. I hope you enjoy. Today is an intro. I am working on the scripts for the various episodes and hope to put them up on a bi-weekly basis.

This episode details a series of events that occurred over a series of days from 25-28 August 1861 in the town of Boonville, Missouri. Included are characters of national fame such as Ulysses S. Grant - and figures of a more local nature, Captain Joseph Eppstein and others.

The original research is conducted by myself. The writing and editing also was completed by me. Sound effects are from Envato Elements.

This episode of Chasing Memory introduces listeners to the story of Saline County resident, and native Kentuckian, William Breckenridge Brown. An adventurous man, Brown lived a life full of passion and tragedy in antebellum America. His experiences during his youth, the Mexican War, and the turbulent 1850s paved the way for a man who stood to be a potential leader of Missouri secessionist forces. Learn about his exciting early years in this episode, written, produced, and narrated by Eric McNeal, a local historian and owner of Mid-Missouri History Associates.
