    Send us Fan Mail

Dancing with profound deafness, Ceroc accessibility and dance community are at the heart of this episode of the Dance Inspiration Podcast.

Liz chats with Becky, a new dancer at Ceroc Derby who is profoundly deaf and has recently completed a beginners workshop and joined the weekly class.

Becky shares what it is really like learning Ceroc when you cannot hear music in the usual way, how lip reading and visual teaching help, how she experiences rhythm, and what dancers and teachers can do to make classes more accessible.

We also talk about the possibility of using Bluetooth technology with the DJ equipment so Becky can connect more directly with the music and teaching, and why simple conversations about individual needs can make such a difference.

This is a warm and practical conversation about dance, inclusion, confidence and community, and about making sure more people feel able to step onto the dance floor.

  • Ceroc Dance Community | Our First SILC Workshop with Lyndsey Hill & Tim Stevens
    2026/07/26

    Send us Fan Mail

SILC workshop Derby, Ceroc dance, community and music come together in Episode 50 of the Dance Inspiration Podcast with Lyndsey Hill and Tim Stevens.

This milestone episode celebrates a very special day for Ceroc Inspire and several important firsts.

We speak to Lyndsey and Tim immediately after teaching 49 dancers at the Derby SILC Foundations workshop. They share how the class responded, why teaching the lead and follow roles separately worked so well, how they adapted the workshop in real time and what dancers gained from the core SILC foundations.

They also discuss connection, opposition, release, musicality and why revisiting the foundations can help both new and experienced dancers grow in confidence.

Lyndsey and Tim reflect on the Derby venue, the atmosphere, the support from dancers and teachers across the East Midlands and their plans to return for SILC Foundations Part Two.

Liz then catches up with Mark about the challenge of preparing for his first SILC DJ set. After two months of listening, researching and building a new music collection, Mark talks honestly about his nerves, stepping outside his comfort zone and the satisfaction of watching the dance floor come alive.

We also reflect on the incredible Ceroc Inspire community, the support from nearly 50 workshop dancers, the brilliant feedback and why bringing something new to Derby felt so important.
