I am sending out the Sunday and Tuesday versions of Folk Heroes of the Sound Century which include scenes from our Folk Musical "Traveling Roads- Songs and Stories of Highway 50 through Colorado." In the coming weeks I will have a special guest, who is also on this distribution list. Author and Historian Stephen Petrus, co-author of "Folk City- New York and the American Folk Music Revival," will be on the show. This week's show features Rambling Jack Elliot, Tom Paxton, Rosalie Sorrels, Vince and Kathi De Francis and Pete Seeger. The theme is Topical Songs and they were recorded around the time when the topics were relevant!

I will be working with author Dick Jones, producing the audio book and songs I wrote for "Walking the Same Ground." It has been fun working on Audio Musical Publishing as hybrid literature with musical albums specifically for these projects - including the story of US Hway 50 and the culture it brought across Colorado and coast to coast. In process: is RAB- songs, stories and the Scottish Bard Robert Burns- due to release on January 25, 2027. An Audio Musical by Richard Arnold Beattie

In working on the Highway 50 - Traveling Roads: The Sounds of the Highway through Colorado, I tell the stories of the many unknown musicians, journalists, vaudeville, circuit riders, farmers, and miners who pioneered the lesser-known highway (Route 66 and Highway 61 are better known), and I remembered writing and recording this music - as close as I could, as if I were traveling through these circuits with Yancy and David. The recording studio was our time machine. I plan to use the stem mixes to play along Highway 50 and perhaps Denver as a tribute to David and Yancy. And the sounds of the highway.
