Hello I'd like to welcome you all here tonight uh it's really a pleasure to see so many people turn out on a on a week night usually we run through uh a week every week on Wednesday and Thursday nights. There's, uh five or ten people sitting out there so it's uh really gratifying to see so many people coming out there. Uh I might say the reason for this uh midweek concert is uh Bruce and Rosalie have an uncanny ability to uh show up in Denver on exactly the same weekend and uh usually we're able to accommodate it or they're able to accommodate it so that I mean next to each other on weekends at the time unfortunately it didn't work out and uh we're real happy that everybody was able to uh you know kind of change their weekend plans or whatever and come out on a weekend uh but anyway we certainly appreciate it and I just uh wanted to add to that that we have a mailing list and the mailing list is out in the lobby and if you and we send out those little blue calendars that you see on your tables and uh if you don't get them and if you'd like to get them why would you sure uh I would like to send them to you so uh you can put a sign out out there and uh don't forget your zip code let's welcome you to our Philips where the hell did y'all come from?

Part 2 of Taj Mahal at Denver Folklore Center, February 4-8 1976. Prior to the concert I open with a song from a show that I am working on called They Came to Play with my trio from 1994 "Crosstown Rivals" It is a chronicle of life along Highway 50 in Colorado with stories from 1926 through 1956. The Highway was an early Roadhouse and Front Porch region where Folk and Blues crossed with Country Swing and Sweet Jazz with a Sunday Best of Gospel Harmony. With Sound Century we are collecting the sounds and the scores of that era. In Lamar we are opening our Sound Century Academy of Recording Arts and Broadcast Journalism and we are recording traditional, original, and public-domain songs that go back to Highway 50 when it was The Rainbow Trail, The Midland Trail and the Loving Goodnight Trail.
